the fan only controls air circulation. not the function of the motor. sounds like ur fridge is stuck in the defrost mode? check ur cold control thermostat with a multi meter for continuity. the fan does not run while in defrost mode, u can manually check ur defrost timer in the fridge by sticking a small screwdriver into the hole underneath it, and turn clockwise till u hear a click u should hear the fan and compressor come on if not turn 1 more click?
somehow may be stuck on ur defrost level cycle? u can check it by finding it usually inside the fridge at the top. a small plastic box like thingy. which if u look at it you will see a tiny whole which u can stick in a small philips screwdriver and turn slowly till u hear a clicking sound only 1 click not 2 or else u just turned on and off the defrost cycle. what you want to do is take it out of defrost cycle, so with screwdriver turn clockwise, good luck
first do u hear the compressor running? any clicking sounds? cold control may be bad? stuck in defrost mode? do u hear the fan running? u can manually take it off defrost mode by placing a small philips screw driver into the tiny hole underneath it the ( cold control thermostat), and turn it slowly till u hear one click this will take it off the defrost mode. if ur problem is the cold control. if that does not work u may have a bad compressor relay and can do a 3 in 1 hardstart and it should kick back in and work agin
Defrost thermostat, defrost timer or defrost heating element is bad. Because of that the evaporator is clogged with ice and the cold air cannot get to the fresh food section. Therefore the thermostat control doesn't get cold enough to turn off the compressor. On the other hand the temperature thermostat may be bad and stuck inn the on position causing the ref to operate continuously thereby defeating the defrost cycle. Uplug the ref and allow it to thaw completely. (24hours). Then while its quiet... turn the thermostat to OFF or 0 and then to the coldest setting and listen for a click sound. No click sound means bad thermostat. Later after thawing plug in refrigerator and observe function after 2 hours and check for cold air flow to the fresh food section. If the refrigerator appears to be okay... the problem is a defrost issue. Most typically a defrost thermostat is bad, but when behind the freezer panel is a good time to perform an ohm/ continuity check on the defrost heating element.
if the first three numbers are 106. on the model number it sounds like the start device on the compressor is bad, part number 8201799 and it's around 55 bucks, unplug the machine, remove the bottom back panel, you'll see the compressor, there will be a metal clip, pop it off with a screw driver and then slide the start device off the compressor,if it smells burnt or if you shake it and hear pieces rattling around it's cooked, also there's a timer in the fridge side, when you first open the freezer door the fan should blow,if it doesn't the timer could be stuck in defrost, with a screw driver you can turn the timer until it clicks and it will come out of defrost,if it starts then you have a bad timer that's stuck in defrost, but i'd put my money on the start device if the clicking is coming from the compressor area and it's not starting, let me know how you make out and as long as it's warm unplug it so you don't damage the pins on the compressor
Defrost is the default position. Is the control a autyomatic temperture control unit? ( you set the temp and select automatic) if it is the system is completely electronic. You push the buttons and the control still says defrost or can you select something else and the control shows it but it just keeps coming out the defrost? If the control changes and the air comes out the defrost anyway and the cheack engine light isn't on, then the problem can be blown fuses or an air door actoater not working. Does the dash emit a clicking sound? if it does with the covers off the bottom of the dash reach around touching the different pieces till you touch the idem that is clicking. this is an acutor motor, or blend door motor. they have gears in them that wear out and break the motors aren't repairable and you just replace the ofending motor. the door that is moves can be stuck. and may have to be freed up with blaster, WD40, or other rust buster till it moves easy. maybe after getting the door to move smoothly you can get the old motor to move the door wiithout having to install a new one.
Are you sure its the thermostat that is clicking and not the compressor. IF the click is comming from inside the frig it is the thermostat, but if its comming from the rear of the frig its the compressor.
If its the thermostat thats clicking you can unplug the frig and remove the thermostat and jump the two wires together and plug the frig back in to see of the compressor comes on. If it comes on, replace the thermostat.
If it doesn't come on check to see if you have current to the compressor. If no power to the compressor check to see of the frig is stuck in defrost. Locate the defrost timer and advance one click and observe if the frig comes on. If the frig comes on at this point replace the defrost timer.
IT COULD BE STUCK IN DEFROST,CAN YOU FIND THE TIMER AND PUT IT IN DEFROST MANUALY?OR CAN YOU PULL THE FRIG. OUT AND FEEL THE COMP. TO SEE IF IT IS HOT,OR A CLICKING SOUND OR RUNNING AT ALL?LET ME KNOE WHAT YOU FIND-MIKE
I THINK THE BUZZING IS THE COMPRESSOR TRYING TO START,ALSO LOOK ON THE BACK OF FREEZER AND SEE IF THE WALL HAS FROST ON IT,IF IT DOES YOU HAVE A BAD DEFROST HEATER OR TERMINATOR OR IT IS STUCK IN DEFROST,LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU KIND,ALSO YOU SHOULD UNPLUG IF YOU FIND THE COMPRESSOR IS TRYING TO START BUT WILL NOT,PULL OUT FRIG.
