    FOUND A FIX! Not that HP Tech Support would share this with anyone, they'd rather you BUY another printer. Ugh. Try this once and if doesn't fix it, try it again. I did it twice and NO MORE PROBLEMS.

    Reset the system by holding down the OK, Cancel, Black, and
    Color buttons down at the same time and turn the printer off. Keep holding the buttons down until the printer shuts off and then turn it back on. You will have to turn the printer off twice and then it will recalibrate. Make sure you have new cartridges in the printer so that it can reset. Good Luck!

    Good freaking grief! I have had nothing but problems with my C6150. First I couldn't get it to function as a scanner and spent many emails with tech support on it...I have Win XP Pro and nothing exotic running. Then I get this ink system failure. Too much.

    Okay I tried your suggestion and have tried everything else I can think of too. Very frustrated with the tech support of HP. I got the same yada yada yada.

Been on an online chat with HP in INDIA for over an hour. Given that you would "think" the error might have to do with the inside or "ink" you would think they would have me open the machine. If there is enough room you've got to read this online chat. WORTHLESS and I will never buy another HP printer ever again. This All-in-one was 372 days old and for them to not even consider going inside but to immediately tell me to buy another one. I hope you can see all of this. If not email me at SusanVette [at] ya hoo dot com and I will share it with you. Doesn't all fit so here is their bottom line:
Sequoia: I wish to inform you that HP is providing an option to exchange this defective unit with a new released All-in-One unit.
Susan : How much?

HP c6150 all in one error message Oxc19acff Ink System Failure. Replaced Yellow ink cartridge an still receive error.

Turn off the machine using the power button, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges, wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the power button to turn on the machine, wait until the printer prompts that the ink cartridges are missing, then replace the ink cartridges. If this doesn't fix the problem you may have to re-prime ink through the system. There are instructions for doing this at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/hp-photosmart-ink-system-failure-1/.

Printing error oxc18a0101

Try resetting the printer:

1- Turn off power and unplug from power source.
2- Open right side of printer (looking at the front).
3- Disconnect,by pulling gently, both white flat ribbon cables off the main circuit board.
4- Plug in power source and turn printer on. Wait till you get a error message and push "Ok".
5- Unplug power source.
6- Reconnect the flat ribbon cables by aligning and carefully pushing into the conectors on the main circuit board.
7- Plug in power source and turn printer on.

HP Photosmart C8180 - Ink System Failure - Oxc18a0101

i had exactly this error message. Rang HP. They said it was a hardware failure, they couldn't fix over phone, would cost 2x cost of new printer to fix, but they offered me 20% discount on new printer if ordered over the phone.

But with some fiddling, problem now resolved. Here's what I did:

- press Red Eye Removal and Print Photos button together
- goes to Mfg Commands -> Enter Special Keys Combo. Press OK
- uaiux Support page (some code) -> click right arrow key until you get to System Configuration Menu - click oK
- should say hardware failure status - click OK
- says hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear
- I clicked OK on this and system reset itself and problem was solved

Same deal. Message "ink system failure". I restarted the printer, it works fine
