You're probably trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.

My TI-53 calculator will not graph all it says is ERR: window range

I do not know of any TI calculator with Model number 53, but I will try to give a general answer. If you get a window range error that means that the Window limits are not set correctly. For example, the lower limit in X, Xmin must be algebraically smaller that the upper limit, Xmax. The default for the TI graphing calculators are Xmin=-10, and Xmax=10. Similarly the Ymin must be smaller than Ymax. The default limits for the y-variable are Ymin=-10, and Ymax=10. If your calculator has a Zoom function ( if it is a graphing calculator, it must have it) then Press Zoom key and select Zoom Standard or ZoomStd.

It wont let me graph. i keep getting an error message err: window range.

You need to press the "window" button located at the top of the calculator, then change the Xmin,Xmax,Ymin, and Ymax to values that your graph will fit in.

Grr, wenever i try to graph it says ERR: Window Range

This is because you have your windows set to amount that are invalid. Hit the windows range button (2nd f3 I believe) and set xmin to -10, xmax to 10, step/interval = 1, Ymin to -10, Ymax to 10, step/interval = 1.

How do i know what numbers to use for my xmin, xmax and xscl and ymin, ymax, and yscl, when setting my graphing window.

Usually you won't set them at all, they'll be set automatically by your zoom settings. Xscl and yscl set where the lines will appear on the x and y axes (if x and y scale are set to 1, there will be a line on the axis every 1 unit). Xmin/Xmax and Ymin/Ymax represent the visible size of your window, if you want to see different part of your graph, you can change these settings, or use the zoom button.

How do I change the dimensions on my ti-84?

You probably mean window dimensions. If that be the case
Press [WINDOW] key.
Use cursor to scroll down the lines. Change Xmin, Xmax,Ymin, Ymax, Xscl, Yscl. Make sure that Xmin is less than Xmax, and Ymin is less than Ymax.

Calculator all of a sudden stop graphing. When i hit graph it says err:window range

Press the WINDOW button (2nd from the left, very top row) and check the window limits. In particular, make sure that Xmin and Ymin are less than Xmax and Ymax respectively.

If that's not the problem, append a comment to this post listing the window variables and the function you're trying to plot.

ERR: Window Range

Press ZOOM and select Zoom standard (ZoomStd).
Alternatively, press the WINDOW key to access the window range setup
Set Xmin=-10
Xmax=10
Ymin=-10
Ymax=10
These are the standard dimensions of the window.
You can change the dimensions as long as Xmin is less then Xmax, and Ymin is less than Ymax. Do not make Xres close to Xmax-Xmin.

How do i reset my window settings for graphing

Hello, If by reset you mean revert to the default settings, press [Zoom][6:ZStandard] If on the other hand, you want to play with the window dimensions press [WINDOW] and change the values of Xmin, Xmax,Ymin,Ymax. Make sure that Xmin Less than Xmax, Ymin less than Ymax. If domain is positive set Xmin=0., If range is positive set Ymin =0. Hope it helps.

Graph not working

Hello,
The window ranges you chose may be wrong. Use ZoomStd ( Zooom standard) or use values that satisfy inequalities Xmin less than Xmax and Ymin less than Ymax. make sure the ranges Xmin, Xmax and Ymin, Ymax cover the area of the graph you are interested in.
Hope it helps.
