This sounds like a micro switch acting up, the first switch to check is the seat switch, make sure the block connecter is pushed fully home on the switch ( there is often a fail safe inside the connecter should the block come away from the switch )
Hello, W/D here. Check the pinhole vent in the fuel filler cap. As fuel is removed when the engine is running, air is pulled into the tank. If the vent is blocked, a vacuum is formed, and fuel cannot flow. After a period of down time, air infiltrates back into the tank, and the engine can be re-started. You can test this out just by cracking the cap open after starting the engine, just enough to allow air to get into the tank. Best regards, --W/D--
Hi,
Tecumseh recommended straight 30 weight (30w) for summer use. You can use 10w30 also.
5w30 for winter use.
Use a heavy duty oil because air cooled engines run hotter than you car engine. A brand like Briggs&Stratton, Craftsman, Kohler.
I have used full synthetic like Mobil One with great success also.
If you have any other questions, please ask!
Check crankshaft position sensor had the same problem just if u do replace spend the extra money for an oem one from the dealer well worth the money saves a lot of time and head ach
Coil failure! The heat is what triggers it. I bet you that if you take the cover off the engine you will find the remains of an mouse nest. The nest blocked the airflow and damaged the coil.
In the spring the shop I work at gets a lot of this kind of problem. Critters love to build nests where they feel safe from weather and predators. Your mowers engine....is just one of those places.
Good news is: You can easily replace the coil yourself. The part for this style mower is available online....even through ebay! You can do the change yourself and make her good as new!
Just as an aside. You may want to check compression on your engine if it ran hot for so long. Make sure the combustion chamber isnt packed with carbon and oil coking! If you have pull start and notice higher than normal effort is needed to start it might be a sign of this problem.
The fix there is also pretty simple. You just need to order a new head gasket. Hey....while youre waiting for a coil why not wait for a head gasket right?
