I opened my Danby 2 temp zone wine cooler Saturday night to find 2 bottles of white wine frozen with the corks popped out. The lower zone temp was on 32. I have read the manual on how to raise the temperature, but it has not changed from 32. I removed the other bottles of wine to prevent freezing. How do I raise the temp? Bill Young

SOURCE: danby wine cooler

Is it because your keypad not functioning, meaning does the number change when you press the arrow up or down? Or when you set it, (let's say 12 Cel.) it does not reach down to that temperature. Then it could be either it's a sealed system problem( leaking refrigerant or under charge if it's a new unit). Or it could be a control problem( electronic control or sensor)

SOURCE: wine cooler noise

The problem is likely with one of the two fans. A new fan is available from Danby (1-800-263-2629). My noisy fan is the condensor fan located at the bottom rear of the device. After removing the cooler from under the cabinet, the source of the noise was obvious. You will need to tell them whether it is the upper fan or lower fan. Leave the cooler upright for a few hours before you plug it in so that you do not damage the condenser. Price for the fan from Danby is $20.15 including shipping. SOURCE: danby wine cooler compresser not running and is hot

The compressor needs to be tested to see if it's operational. This normally needs to be done by a service tec.

that's always a possibility but not always the case. The thermostat may not be cycling correctly or set wrong. The condenser could be dirty or if there is a fan, it may not be running. Freeze ups can also cause an "Out of temp." condition. Check it out.

Danby DWC2121BLS dual commpartment wine cooler is cooling normally but after 2 days aprox the temperature increase and beeping and flashing hi

If evaporator starts to freeze up the ice accumulated serves as an insulator and the temps go up. If you turn it off and let ice buildup melt the unit will work fine again until it refreezes.

Check if unit has a device to prevent ice build up. If so, it is not working. If warm moist air is entering the area of evaporator coil, that could also be causing the buildup.

Woke up one morning to frozen bottles of wine. The Digital Thermostat still said it was at 8 degrees celcius, but was much colder than that.

Most of these types of wine coolers are not brand names and parts are hard to get. If you paid under $200 for it, buy a new one.

Otherwise you will need to have it repaired by a service station or someone who can get the thermostat and or control board, which is very minimal with these coolers.
You can search for parts if you want to DIY. Search for parts using description and make and model.
Good luck.

Temperature in both upper and lower zones will not go lower than 50F. Cooler has 3 bottles of wine. Is there away to recharge with coolant/clean fans...? Thank you

The condenser coils dissipate heat. If dust and debris accumulate around the coils, your refrigerator may not be able to cool properly, it may run continuously or it may stop completely as a result of an overheated compressor.

Before cleaning the condenser coils, unplug the refrigerator to avoid a shock hazard.

Vacuum or brush the coils. If coils have a filmy build-up, use warm soapy water to clean them. Take care not to spill or drip water onto the components of the refrigerator.

E4 Code

Between phone calls to danby and my neighbor, we fixed this problem. My E4 was on the left (lower chamber). If you have one on the right it is the upper chamber. The E4 is a defrost sensor that can be ordered from Danby's distributor (call Danby for the one in your area). The part and shipping were around $30.

If your E4 is on the left...

- remove the top shelves
- open the cover inside the cooler above the digital read outs (the top unscrews)
- inside is were the repacement sensor plugs in
- replace the one with the long cord
- run the sensor down the back to the lower chamber
- replace all covers and parts

If the E4 is on the right...

- remove the top shelves
- look on the right hand wall for a black plastic grate, the sensor is under this grate
- replace the sensor (simple plug and play)
- replace the racks.

Please pass this on, it was a ***** to deal with Danby and I nearly trashed the cooler out of sheer frustration.

Did you read the owners manual? It will be kind of hard to tell you because there are so many different settings for different areas.
