Beeping noise, tv won't turn on

I have a 52 in rca tv model no. d52w20. the tv has been in good condition since we got it besides having to replace the green projection cannon. this is the 2nd time though that the tv will not turn on and there is a distinct beeping noise when you press the power button on the tv or the remote. the tv sounds like it is getting power but nothing happens. we have fixed this problem before, it was something with the power cord connection box where it connects internally to the tv. is there an easy that i can go out and buy and install myself or will i need a tech to do it or take to the shop? thanks in advance. when tv is pluged in there is no picture and tv beeps. jon

Chirrping.....is indication of shutdown issue first thing to chech is make sure that the flat ribbion cables foint from the green board over to the power board are in place...this set shuts down for many reasons.. the most likely in your case would probalbkly be a blown horizontal output transistor. which could also mean a blown flyback transformer. If you have some electrical experience i can guide you through this.. Let me know if you want to fix it yourself..

No chance for testing with out a volt meter sir.

you must need a volt meter to find out the defective component.

Your best solution would be to take it in to a shop. As that is cheaper then them coming out and the job will be done right. If you need any help finding someone let me know. You can also use fixya.com 's homepage and enter your zip code.

Also give those a shot just to make sure though it seems like you will need to have it serviced as this may be a power issue.
    • The front panel controls may be locked (disabled). Use the remote control to unlock the front panel controls by selecting the Front Panel Block in the
Parental Control menu and press OK to uncheck the box.
    also
    • Electronic protection circuit may have been activated because of a power surge. Wait 30 seconds and then turn on again. If this happens frequently, the
voltage in your house may be abnormally high or low.
    • Unplug. Wait five minutes. Plug in again.
    Keep me posted.
    Thanks,

First you want to take the back off and visually inspect all the boards. You can check the capacitors for bulged tops. It is also best to check the bottom of the boards to look for bad solder joints.
    Thanks,

you asked if it was easy and no it is not that easy. You should have experience in it and be fully confident. It will most likely not cost that much to repair. You can call and get an estimate first to see if that is the route you want to take.
    Thanks,
    Lee

I'm no Expert, but I have worked for a major statelite tv company for the past 7 years, one thing you can check besides the channels, would be the video inputs, see if you have the same issues with different components dvd vcr etc.. if so it would be narrowed to the tv or poss connections to the tele..
