I am English and accidentally got my new Archos 7 home tablet into some chinese or japanese language mode and can't get it back to English since I can't read what I am doing. How do I get back to English?

Just tell it to:
Hit the small microphone and say: change tabblet setting to English language please. Let me know

Ive done this as well. The only way was for me to look at another tablet, the same as mine and then go through each step until I found the language change button and then counted down the list until I found "English" If you have another tablet or PC access to the net, you may be able to find a guide for your machine.

To change the language back to English on your Zeepad tablet, try the following:

1) Tap the Settings icon (in some versions, it is a square icon with blue lines, in others, it looks like a small gear).

2) Scroll up and tap the "Language & input" icon (a square icon with the A letter).

3) Now, tap the "Language" selection (the topmost one)

4) Tap on "English (your country)" and then tap the arrow to go back.

You can try resetting the unit to it's Default Mode by resetting the MID to it's original state (under SETTINGS). You'll lose any updates and depending on where you got your tablet it might go back to Chinese or other language. If so... BEFORE you reset the unit; look at settings and figure out HOW to get back there and RE-set the language to English. I hope it helps. Good Luck.

if you are talking about the language on your computer click start control panel,regional and language options select regional language options from the drop down list select the language you want also from the bottom drop up list you can select your present location location or another language hope this helps

You should get to the "language and region settings" from the menu, and choose a language. If you see everything in german, the help I can give you at first that language means german as "sprache".
If this is not enough you should need a dictionary or a web-translator page on the internet.

Try a master reset using the manual, It should reset it factory settings. You can then configure the archos.
