Check engine light cant be read by auto zone wont pick up reading just had a new water pump in

Sounds like you might have a vacuum leak around the intake manifold.

So you replaced the sensor and now the light is back on, right? Have you checked the code again to make sure it's still the MAF sensor code? If so, you've got a connector or wiring harness issue.

Take it to Auto Zone and have them read the code for free.

auto zone reader will sometimes not read codes. take it to your local garage and ask them to plug into it with an updated reader. i dont charge to read a code and i would hope they dont either. the o2 sensor could cause bad gas mileage. whens the last tune up done? check air filter. plugs? also check air in tires. low tires can cost fuel mileage as well. hope this helps

auto zone can only help you when the check engine light is "on" SUGGEST THAT YOU HAVE IT CODE READ AT AUTO ZONE THE NEXT TIME THE LIGHTS ON,WHEN IT DOES COME ON,LEAVE IT RUNNING THEN when you have someone with you,leave the car running,go inside auto zone and get them to come out and code read it while the lights on.the only way they can read it is if the check engine light is on. i understand that you have a new motor, you may have a bad idle control sensor. that jumps out at me. the silver canister on top of your engine that has only 2 screws holding it to the engine and has an electrical plug in. does the engine die after you start it sometimes? when you're at a light does it not want to take fuel when you press on the gas pedal? does the engine die sometimes for no apparent reason when it"s setting still? if any of these signs are correct,then a bad idle control sensor is suspect.if not that,then you may have a clogging or clogged fuel injector.if you suspect that,then i suggest adding lucas fuel injector cleaner to your gas tank. this stuff works great for unclogging fuel injectors.you can find it for around $5.00 at auto zone,just add it to your fuel tank.run the engine and you will see a difference after the 1st 15 miles. no more missing or sputtering at stop lights or stop signs. thank you for choosing fixya.com

sounds like a check engine light, probably a bad sensor. get the vehicle computer codes read at an independent shop or dealership. you may be able to get the computer codes read at an auto-zone for free but you need someone who can interpret the code because it's rarely what the code actually says and if you get it read at auto-zone just don't buy the parts there. in my 16 years of professional automotive work i've had the worst luck with auto-zone parts and service than any other parts supplier.

Take it to your local Auto Zone and get the codes read. They can print you a copy of what to check for. IF the fluid is not flowing at all then your water pump is not working, be it due to belt or bearing in the pump. Have you changed the thermostat? Does the car actually run hot or does the light/gauge just read hot?

The CEL means there is a Diagnostic Fault Code stored in the Engine Control Unit. There are 1000's of DTC's, so you will need to have it read by a Code Reader. Auto Parts stores like Auto Zone, Pep Boys, perhaps even Advanced Auto often will read the code for you; but by law they cannot clear the codes. Many codes do not cause drivability problems, severe ones will trigger the ECU to run in a Limp Mode, which would require repair work before any trip longer than a few miles. Hope this is helpful.

You need to get the code read for the check engine light. Localy Auto Zone will do it for free. It also sounds like you need a new fuel filter.
