My timex 1440 sport watch has buttons that are slightly different than any manuel I can find on line. the buttons are as follows going clock wise from top left mode, stop/start,adjust,and indiglo. I just want to set the time. the watch was a promotional watch from Chysler, and is around 10 years old

Try this:
To set time and date:
1) With time and date showing, press SET.
2) Seconds ?ash. Press START/STOP to round time to nearest minute,
setting seconds to zero.
3) Press MODE. Hour ?ashes. Press START/STOP to change hour,
including AM (no symbol) and PM.
4) Press MODE. Minutes ?ash. Press START/STOP to change minutes;
hold button to scan values.
5) Press MODE. Month ?ashes. Press START/STOP to change month.
6) Press MODE. Date ?ashes. Press START/STOP to change date.
7) Press MODE. Day ?ashes. Press START/STOP to change day.
8) Press MODE. Time format ?ashes. Press START/STOP to select
12- or 24-hour time format. 12-hour format has AM/PM.
9) Press SET, at any step, to exit and save settings.
Date (day of month) appears in upper part of display in Time mode.
Press and hold START/STOP to see month and date in large digits.

Go to the time mode,hold down the set button, it may take a couple of seconds and it will start blinking , then go to your mode button to move from seconds to hour to min etc.etc,etc. It probibly is your start/stop button for chaning the numbers. If that dosn't work, hold down the mode button on the time mode for a few seconds, and go from there.

There are several models of your watch not all of which appear to have a 12/24 hour display format.

Try this extract from a manual; press the MODE button six times to enter the 12/24 adjusting setting and then use the START/STOP or SPLIT/RESET button to change the time.

Press the mode button to return to normal operation.

press and hold the mode button until the digits blinks then press it again once, (digit that are blinking is changeable) use the "start/stop button to choose what will you change and adjust buttton to adjust it. if your done, press the mode button again once.

Hi,

You can easily change the time of your Timex watch by following the steps below.

1. With the time and date showing, press the top left button.

2. Press the right top button (this sets seconds).

3. Press the bottom left button. This flashes the hour; press the top right button until you have the correct hour (there is no symbol for am, pm will show if pm).

4. Press the bottom left button, minutes flash. Press the top right button until correct minutes.

5. Press the bottom left button, month flashes. Press the top right button until correct.

6. Press bottom left button, date flashes. Press the top right button until correct.

7. Press bottom left button, day flashes. Press right top button until correct.

8. Press bottom left button, time format flashes (can be set to 24 hour clock). If correct, you're done. Press top left button if you're done (can be pressed at any step if you're finished).

To turn off the chime and alarm: Press bottom left until in the alarm screen. Then press the top right button repeatedly until the CHIME or CH symbol is gone and/or ALARM or ALM to disappear, then press the bottom left button to go back to main time.

How to set to 24hr mode for timex 1440 sports

Setting My Timex 1440 Sports Watch (4-button)
1. With the time and date showing, press the top left button.
2. Press the right top button (this sets seconds)

Can't change time

Hi,
Try to pull the roll handle up a little until it clicks, then, usually anti ~ clockwise will set time only, clock ~ wise will set date. This should solve 'em. :)

How do I get instructions

The instructions at the Timex site for a 1440 seem to be for a different watch than our 1440. We eventually found our copy of the instructions and they are titled W-163-US. I found these same instructions here:
