Problem with draining water through hose

I bought one of the FDL70S1 Frigidaire dehumidifiers today for my shop, and found that the $5 hose I bought to drain it through the floor wouldn't tighten down completely, allowing the hose to twist and wobble, a sure indication that it was not water tight. Simply adding a second washer, as described in another answer here, allowed me to tighten the hose sufficiently to produce a tight fit with no play between the hose and the dehumidifier. It hasn't leaked. I know it is a threads-per-inch issue, and I am stumped as to why Frigidaire would supply these units with a different thread pitch than the standard GHT (garden hose thread) 3/4" - 11.5 tpi. The threads on the unit appear to be 3/4 NPS - 14 tpi. Go figure!

Had this problem and the solution proved to be quite simple. The dehumidifier was not level. It seems that mine was designed to drain through the hose fitting and into the bucket. If I put a hose on it, then it drain through that. Very simple. BUT, there is a backup, so that if the initial drain get blocked for some reason, the water will flow through the backup and into the bucket.
This works fine UNLESS (and this happend to me) my floor is not level. So the dehumidifier was not level and the water went through the backup and directly into the bucket. I made sure the unit was level (or even tilted a little the other direction) and Voila! problem solved.
You may have other problems, but this is one of the basics to check.

I raised mine up on a platform about 6 inches, and now mine works fine. Don't know why this is necessary, but atleast it works now.

This is a manufacturer defect in this unit ... there are not enough threads to tighten the hose washer against the unit. Add a second hose washer and tighten ... it will work fine. You need two hose washers.

I suspect that the threads-per-inch of the Frigidaire dehumidifier's hose connection is different (threads closer together) than a standard garden hose. My mother is having the same problem - I don't have the dehumidifier with me and can't confirm by measuring, but when I hooked up a hose to hers, this seemed to be the problem. The upshot is that you'd need a nonstandard connector to connect a hose, or an adapter that connects the nonstandard threads on the Frigidaire with the more widely spaced threads on a standard garden hose.

Please check this out and see if it solves the problem.

I had the same problem, but I solved it by applying a considerable amount of Teflon tape to the male hose connection on the humidifier and slowly tightening the hose onto that connection. I don't know if this was a threads-per-inch problem or not, but this solved the problem of water leaking into the bucket.

The connection within the humidifier is too small for the plastic pipte extension. Wrap the end of the connection within the humidifier with teflon tape a couple times and then push the plastic tube back onto the humidifier. If it slips on easily, add a couple more layers of teflon tape until the connection is snug. My humidifier came with a sticky tape that came off the connection the first time I pushed the pipe on. I didn't realize it until I had your leaking problems. Raising the humidifier a little above ground level also helps the water feed into the hose.

If you are using plastic tubing (hose), you are most likely "air blocked". This is when air gets in the tubing and prevents the water from going around the bubble and the weight of the water behind the bubble is not strong enough to push pass. You'll see that others fixed this by raising the Dehumidifier (thereby increasing the head and the pressure behind the bubble). Also, just moving the tubing around to get the water flowing will break the bubble and in most cases (as long as there is always water in the tubing) will start to free flow normally. Move the tubing up and down until you see flow. (Only works on flexible tubing.) Piping is different and may need a vent.

I also thought the male thread was incorrect until I removed the cap that comes with the dehumidifier and tried it with a standard hose. It fit just fine. I had used nylon tape and also tried an additional washer but that didn't fit. Finally I checked the female end of the hose connection and saw the threads were mashed. Assuming the problem was on the dehumidifier end for years and dealing with occasional links today causes me a bit of embarrassment. But replacing the hose with one having a new female end seems to have fixed everything. Never assume...

Lay it on its back and take a good look where the hose is supposed to connect. The hose end is easy but the other end may have to be firmly inserted and maybe electrical tape secured so that the sensor " knows" water can flow from the compressor to the drain.

I have exactly the same problem with no water draining from the hose on the 50 pt unit. I used clear tubing, 1/2 diam, which I could see through. The tubing was about 3 ft long. It came out of the unit, ran along the floor, then up about six inches to go into a 3 inch diam drain pipe that came up out of the floor. The discharge end of the hose was about 3 to 4 inches lower than where it exited the unit, so I thought the water would drain ok. I saw the water coming out of the unit, and then fill the part of the tube that was on the floor (like a sink trap). Then I noticed air bubbles going through the water in the tube, back toward the unit. I think the fan was creating a slight suction inside the unit and drawing the bubbles in, preventing water from entering the tube. Then the bucket started to fill from water that fell through a small hole in another area of the water collection tray. Raising the unit up about 12 inches seems to have fixed the problem, but I'm not exactly sure if the height is the only reason that it worked. It might also be that it eliminated the trap, because now the hose slopes downward all the way to the floor drain, and has no place to trap water. So far, the bucket is totally dry.

I recently bought one of these from Lowe's myself, and bought the 25 pint dehumidifier, because it claimed to be able to accept a hose for constant draining. Well, when the manufacturer also sells larger capacity units, it's not in their best interests to make the  smallest unit drain an unlimited amount. The main problem is where the hose connector is situated. It's in such a tight, cramped space that you immediately feel like, " I should just get the larger capacity unit." Well, after emptying the draining tank several times---despite the attached hose---I finally decided that the problem is that you can't get a good, tight hose connection because there's not enough room to tighten the hose onto the threaded connector.
I realize that the hose was getting some of the water, but anything that dripped quickly filled up the 25 pint tank.
You either need to extend the point of connection to outside the dehumidifier, or find a hose connection that you can use a wrench on to tighten it. I'm trying a slightly different method. I found something at the hardware store that has a standard hose connection at one end, and the other end is a smaller threaded tip. I forced it into the humidifier's draining connector, and was able to attach a hose to the other end.
So far it's working. My next step would be to maybe attach a  PVC pipe that would fit inside that internal connection point, and  make it long enough to reach the outside of the dehumidifer. Then, attach a hose connector to that, then the hose. This can all be done using PVC purple glue, and the parts are in the plumbing section for just a few bucks. Better than spending  a hundred or so extra for a bigger unit.

Make sure there is not a plastic disk blocking the drain hole that needs to be removed.
