Remove the entire dispenser from the machine by pushing down on the catch usually rear left side. Take out the divider from the bleach and fabric softener and clean as much goo as you can get our of there using a toothpick or small screwdriver. Check the tube sections and clean completely. Test by putting it back together and slowly pouring water in the dispenser and it should fill then start draining once the level gets high enough. Stop filling and if level it should empty itself out.
You can help prevent this by diluting the softener in the dispenser without filling to the max.
I have already taken it completely apart and scrubbed the heck out it. Top, bottom all nocks and crannies. I also crammed my arm in the washing drawer space and cleaned the dickens out of it too. After all of that I turned it to a hot water cycle and ran it through without any clothes. I thought that should have cured the problem so I did a load of clothes ..... and all be danged the softner dispenser still had all the softner in it at the end of that load. hmmmmm Got any other ideas?
Try the extra rinse cycle and make sure you don't have to select fabric softener on the console.
You may have a defect in the dispenser. Have you tried any diagnostic tests? Post your model number and I can look up the model and see if that helps. Make sure both supply water lines are fully on.
