SOURCE: Rollers are leaving black smudges on my checks
WARNING:
Avoid touching the transfer roller while removing and replacing the
pickup roller. The transfer roller is the black, sponge rubber roller
that is under the print cartridge area. A sheet of paper may be used to
cover the transfer roller while removing or replacing the pickup roller.
WARNING:
Alcohol is flammable. Keep the alcohol and cloth away from open flame.
Allow alcohol to dry completely before closing the printer and plugging
in the power cord.
NOTE:
The top of the pickup roller has round tabs. The bottom of the pickup
roller has rectangular tabs. The flat side of the pickup roller goes to
the back of the printer.

hi,
the issue that you have might need to change some settings from the printing properties. WHen you hit on PRINT, a box will open, right? look on the top right of that box, you will see "PROPERTIES" or "Preferences" just click on it, then another box will open. Click on Printing Shortcuts tab, try to review the settings. And if you want to print using the main tray, it should set it to Automatic select or Main tray. And make sure that it sets to General Printing. But if youre going to print a photo, you will have options there to choose what type of paper when you click on that, the settings on the paper size, paper source, etc. will change also. For paper source, make sure that it sets to Photo Tray.
If you will be able to open printing preferences, all options are there, you just need to read and choose which settings you want to use.
Thank you so much.

Here's a link to the full service manual for your HP 3055. It's too large to post here (15MB) but I've hot linked it for you so you can download it to resolve your issue with the ADF. Look at pages 44 thru 46. Pay special attention to the rubber pad (separation pad) that is under the 2 roller peice as it is what keeps the doc feeder pulling one sheet at a time.
Hope that helps you. If so hit me with a FIXYA, If not send me a message or reply and I'll try and walk you through it.

Rollers do not turn on!
Rollers are driven by a motor.
How is the printer telling you this information? (does the PC give an error, or the printer flash lights)
Does the paper make it out of the machine?
Is this "Rollers in the Back" the Fuser Unit?
is The Fuser unit is going bad,
if you open the back top cover, where it gets real hot, where the paper exit's, you should see two rollers, one orange, one either brown or black.. if that orange roller is damaged, has crease's, or covered with black toner, if the paper jams here alott, you probably need a new fuser unit. there is a pm kit available which includes the fuser and rollers, transfer, etc, which this site might have
