I have had TI connect for quite a while, and recently I started having the same issue. I'm running Windows 7. I was able to get it to work by forcing it to run in compatibility mode. To do this, you need to right-click on the program icon and click "properties". In the window that pops up, click the "Compatibility" tab, select the checkbox that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for", and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" in the box below. Click OK and try to connect again.

I have the same problem when trying to connect my ti-83 to my computer using a silver link cable. Do you have windows vista? I have a feeling that might be the source of my problem, even though I tried running it in compatability mode the ti device explorer always freezes up. It recognizes my calculator, but as soon as I press any of the buttons it freezes up, whether my calc is connected or not. I will try using a different computer, but unfortunately it has vista also.

I accidentally press reset all and now all my apps are gone. I was wondering how I can restore it back to normal with all the default apps just like when I bought it. Please explain in step by step fashion...

Go to education.ti.com . Download all the applications you want from this page and install them on your calculator.
For that you will need a mini to Standard USB cable or a TI USB Silver cable.
The drivers for the cable have to be installed manually if the computer does not recognize the device.

  1. From the TI website (computer software) download TI connect and install it on the computer.
  2. Run TI Connect, and verify that it finds your calculator:
  3. In TI connect main window, click Screen Capture or Device Information, or Device Explorer.
  4. Once the calculator is correctly identified, drag an application downloaded from TI and drop it on the TI Connect main window.
  5. It will install on the calculator.
  6. After transferring two or three apps, stop to allow the calculator to defragment the memory space.
  7. Resume transferring applications.

Hi twylazhangzh,

Sound like your Ti 84 Plus is really over loaded and, can't function properly. You can fix that by installing the newest Ti 84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS. operating system.

If you have a friend that has a Ti 84 Plus or, Ti 84 Plus Silver Edition you can connect the two calculators together through the IO link ports and, they can send you a copy of their OS while you receive it on your Ti 84 Plus. Hopefully your friend will have Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS on their calculator or, it might not work.

If you can't find a calculator to connect to you can connect your Ti 84 Plus to a computer that has Ti Connect software on it. If you need to connect your Ti 84 Plus to a computer just keep following my instructions below.

First, you need to download and, install Ti Connect to your computer. If you don't need any help installing Ti Connect goto Procedure 1.

If your computer's OS is XP or Mac and, you need instructions to download and, install Ti Connect click, "Install Ti Connect on my XP or Mac OS". Just follow Procedure 1 at that posting and, come back to this posting to finish downloading and, installing Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS to your calculator.

If your computer's OS is Windows 7 and, you need instructions to download and, install Ti Connect click, "Install Ti Connect on my Windows 7 OS". Just follow Procedure 3 at that posting and, come back to this posting to finish downloading and, installing Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS to your calculator.

Procedure 1 to installing Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS

1). You can also get the latest copy of Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS and, guidebook by going to the Texas Instruments web site. You can get to that site instantly by clicking, "Ti 84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS!" Once your at the Ti site click the Download Item, "Ti84 Plus family operating system". Next you can login or, click "continue as guest". I'd would click the "continue as guest". Once you have click, "continue as guest" the Ti84 Plus family operating system will download to you.

Next, click "SAVE" and then a window to a folder will pop up. It is probably a window to a folder that you download too. If so, you may want to change it and, save to this folder, "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads". You can also go back and, download the Ti 84 Plus guidebook too, if needed.

Link your computer and, Ti 84 Plus calculator with the USB cable or, Direct Black Link cable that came with the Ti 84 Plus calculator. Next, drag the Ti 84 Plus 2.55v MP OS that you saved earlier in "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads" out of that folder and, drop it in the "Ti Connect" icon on the desktop. Click, "Continue" when the "Erase Warning" pops up and, the new Ti 84 Plus 2.55v MP OS will begin to install.

Next, the Ti Device window should pop up and, highlight the port when found that your Ti 84 Plus is using, USB1 cable or, Direct Black COM1.

oneplusgh_42.jpg

When the Ti Device Explorer finds and, highlights your calculator's information click, "Select." Then click, "Yes" when the next window shows up with your calculator's information and, the OS will continue to download. Upon completion the newest Ti 84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS will be installed.

If you run into any trouble with software or, drivers just comment to what failed at this posting and, I'll be glad to help you.

I just upgraded my ti89 and now it will not detect in windows 7

I'm going to take it that your Ti 89 upgrade is a Ti 89 OS update. Check and make sure your Ti 89 OS is up to date with with OS 2.09v. For ti 89 Titanium your OS should be 3.10v. To check the version of your OS from the home screen press, [F1] [A]-About. The OS version should show up at the second line from the top of the "About" window that pops up. If you don't have the updated OS version you should go to the Ti web site and download it. Now let's try getting the computer and calculator connected.

When you have your computer and, Ti 89 calculator connected the calculator should be on and, at the home screen.

Procedure 1.

Go to your Start Menu and search for Device Manager.

Open up Device Manager.
Scroll to the USB controller and click the +. Turn the calculator ON then connect the USB cable to your PC. A new device will appear on the USB controller.
Right-click on the new device and, choose Update Driver Software. The Hardware Update Wizard will appear.
Choose "Browse my computer for driver software".
In the search field type in C:\Program Files\TI Education\Driver Files. Look for the tiehdusb.inf driver file.
Click on Next to finish installing the driver properly
Once the driver is installed click Finish.

Procedure 2.

Now click on the "Ti Connect" software on your desktop. Double-click the Ti Device Explorer located to the left inside the Ti connect window.

oneplusgh_41.jpg

The software should start looking for your calculator. A pop-up should display looking something like what is pictured below. Under device your calculator should display. If your calculator is located the software will highlight on to it. Click, "Select" and another window should pop-up.

oneplusgh_39.jpg

The next pop-up should look something like this. If your Ti 89 is present it will show up next to device and, probably won't say Titanium. Your cable type and port should be listed too.

oneplusgh_40.jpg

If all the information is correct in the window that appears click "OK" and, you should be able to start downloading. You can skip the rest of the procedures. If your Ti 89 still won't connect to the computer goto Procedure 3 unless you have already tried Procedure 3, then goto procedure 4.

Procedure 3.

If the above procedure still does not help then try un-installing and, re-installing the Ti Connect software. After un-installing re-boot your computer. After re-booting your computer you can get the latest copy of Ti Connect software by going to the Texas Instruments web site. You can get to that site instantly by clicking, "Ti Connect software" At this Ti site under "View: Connectivity Software", Click, "the OS link that applies to your computers operating system". Next, click the Download Item, "Ti Connect software for ....OS". Next you can login or, click "continue as guest". I'd would click the "continue as guest". Once you have click, "continue as guest" the Ti Connect software for ....OS will be download to you. Click, "Save" and then a folder will pop up. It is probably a folder that you download too. If so, you may want to change it and, 'Save as" to this folder, "Desktop."

Next right-click the Ti Connect executable on your desktop and select, "Properties." Then click the "Compatibility" tab located at the top of the "Properties" window. Click the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for." and select "Windows XP Service Pack 2" from the drop-down menu. Click "Apply" and choose "OK." Double-click the TI Connect executable and select "Next" to begin the installation. Click "Yes" to OK the installation process to proceed. Then click "Finish" to complete the installation. Next, reboot your computer.

Now go back and try Procedure 1 and 2 again. If you have already tried Procedure 1 and 2 twice, go to Procedure 4.

Procedure 4.

If the above procedures fail then try a different cable and if possible a different computer.
If trying different cables/computers fails, please contact and fill out a Ti Cares Customer Assistance Form. You can get there by clicking this link, " Ti Cares Customer Assistance Form "

Attach a system information file to the email reply you receive from "Ti Cares Customer Assistance Form."

To get the system information file:

Go to Start Menu and search for System Info
Once loaded, click on File and choose Save
Name the file FirstNameLastName.nfo
Please check to make sure that system info file(.nfo) is the selected type of file.
Attach the .nfo file to the email reply

I don't have the disk and i can not find the TI Educational Handheld Device driver anywhere for download also my calc freezes when connected. the pc also has the usb not reconized pop-up every 5 seconds as...

Here is the link to the connectivity software for your calculator. Select the Computer Operating system and download to your computer.

To install the calculator drivers (depending on the cable used) read the following.

Install the drivers first then connect the calculator to the computer with one of the two cables (SilverLink USB, or miniA to standard USB)
The procedure is described in the following, Please read it till the end then try it. If you have any problem, post a comment to this thread.
If you have a USB SilverLink cable, use it to connect the calculator though the I/O (round) port.
If you do not have a USB SilverLink cable, you can use the mini USB to USB Direct cable but you will have to install the correct driver for it.

I do not know what computer operating system you are running and I use Windows XP so I will describe the installation procedure for Window XP SP3.

Install TI connect 1.6 for Windows; if your system is Vista you must install a patch available on the TI website, at the same page where you find TI Connect.

After you install TI Connect, connect your calculator to the computer with the mini USB standard USB Direct cable. Windows will detect the calculator and will try to install the drivers. You will have something that is similar to what is on the three screen captures I am inserting in the post. On the last screen, choose the TI Educational Handheld device and click next.

When Windows asks to stop installation, click continue anyway

be44bb9.jpg
After the installation, click finish.

Device manager will show you something like what is on next screen (TI Educational Handheld device)

Run TI Connect to verify that the calculator is recognized. Connect your computer to the Internet and click the Updates Button on the TI Connect tool bar.

Verify that the I/O port (the round one) does not contain any foreign material. Also, for transferring files batteries must be in excellent condition.

Cant install any applications

Hello,
Run the TI connect software on you computer. Turn the calculator on and connect it to a USB port on the computer. Before you drag and drop applications on the TI connect software window, Click on one of the icons (TI Device Explorer, TI Device Info, TI Screen Capture). Two new smaller windows pop up, the one on top has the title Select TI device. If in that window it recognizes your Calculator Model, you click on select and OK, and you are ready to communicate with it.

If on the other hand, it fails to find your calculator on any of the 3 or 4 communication ports (COM3, COM4, USB1, etc.) then you click on the communication setting and in the drop down lists
