I'm using a mac and the konica 7450. When I print an image from indesign it prints fine. As soon as I try and print a document with text on the page it doesn't seem to work at all.
Any ideas?
Export the page as a jpeg, 150 dpi, high quality, then delete all the items on that page in the indesign document (text & images), then import the jpeg to that page it will fit exactly.
This works most times!

Is it a text or an image or...?
If its just a jpeg you are putting through indesign, test its 100% K value using the dropper tool and hovering over the image.
If its text, or indesign generated, make sure the fill you use is 100% black, not 50% blue, 50% black which is often the default. Again, check the final using the dropper before you export the pdf.
I'm not sure exactly what your application is, but often for screenprinting, people duplicate the image....so for instance two acetates of the same image one on top of the other to maximise the density....a friend of a friend apparently even uses 4 acetates layered up to be absolutely certain.
No, the water has nothing to do with it. Somewhere in a print dialog or perhaps in the printer driver, something changed to grey.
Try printing an ordinary black text document. Before you click "Print", look for "properties" or "Printer setup". Somewhere in there something got changed. Perhaps you can find a "default" button in a dialog box to restore the printer to factory settings.
MIGHT help (probably not) to shut down the Mac, power down the printer, and then start both up. Just an idea.
This is for 10.3 to 10.5, 10.6 has drivers on the install DVDhttp://printer.konicaminolta.net/drivers/mac/5450_osx34.dmg
Sounds silly, but make sure you pick Colour under 'Print Settings' as it often defaults to B&W
Also try printing from TextEdit first to confirm it's not the Application that's the problem.
Apps like Quark and Indesign sometimes use their own settings and PPD's
Not really sure about Mac, but if this happens on a PC, I would first uninstall the printer (software-wise) then download the latest drivers and install.
hi im josh in cebu phils .friend may i help you?
The problem appears on your print out is a symptoms of software corruption. Try to re install new software driver for printer. but dont forger to uninstall the old one before installing a new. check also the printer port connection.
good luck hope i helped you.
I think your problem is that the 5550 supports manual duplex printing. Print every other page then feed them through again. Never tried it though. Dave Reed
Actually what i can suggest is that for you to try printing from a different application, such as microsoft word or paint. try printng a landscape image. now if its going to print it correctly call adobe since that might be an application issue. thanks for using fixya!!
Without a doubt you have a problem with the fuser.
What that is caused from is buildup over time of ink on the heat roller. The teflon coating wears some and the ink sticks to the aluminum instead of pealing off onto the paper.
You then do not get enough heat or perssure to "fuse" the image into the paper.
Replacine the fuser will correct the problem.
thanks for getting back to me.
It's not an ideal way of doing it - I have a 48page brochure that I'm trying to proof...
