It will only clean particles 10 microns or larger. If you can see it in the sun beam through a window it will remove it

It will not help purify paint fumes and could be a source of combustion. It is best to ventilate using open windows and positive air pressure from a fan blowing from another room into the fume area. Hope this helps some:)

How can I make my own venta Airwasher Water Treatment?

I use white vinegar and hot water. I soak the disk for a few hours. It's amazing. My venta is 10 years old. I also use different scented oils in mine to fragrance the room. I use it daily. I got a new venta but like the older model better. It is my sleeping machine it provides a white noise that I sleep very well to. The new one is too quiet and seems more fragile.

Motor runs but wheels don't turn

If you have used it for a long time then minerals in the water may have built up somewhere and now needs to be removed wither by cycling a cleaner of some sort or physically scrubbing the moving parts yourself.  The first ting to try is unplug the machine, remove all the filters, and try cleaning with vinegar. Smells bad I know but following up by cleaning with a regular detergent should remove the smell. Detergent alone will not break up the calcium, the acid in the vinegar does that. Next we need to find out what gears may have slipped or if there is a belt out of place. If everything mechanical is in working order then the cam from the motor to the rest of the unit may be shucked in which case it would depend on where it is broken to determine the best repair. Please, if you could as some problems like this are not always simple, take a look at your particular unit and provide me with some further description of what is going on.

Do you have to replace the filter each year at start up?

no .. there is no replacable filter .. you do have to clean the housing and disk stack .. the motor assembly comes out easily so you can clean things ... kind of nice 10 warranty with that ... follow instructions for water ..

My Venta Airwasher LW44 motor won't start

Test the motor to see if it works. Make sure the motor is removed from the rest of the unit. To find out how to remove the unit please hit the "Go Back button and select the "How to remove the motor button"...
  1. Plug the unit in to a working outlet.
  2. Push the #1 speed button on top of the motor.
  3. You now need to engage the saftey switch to start the motor.
  4. Protruding from the motor are two plastic about 3-4 inch guiding arms.
  5. Look inside the end of both of these two guiding arms. One of the arms are hollow and the other one has a white safety switch in the arm.
  6. Use a pencil or small item to push in on the safety switch.
  7. If the fan sarts to rotate the motor is still working.
  8. If the fan does not rotate then the life of the motor has probably ended and a new motor is needed. ( insert motor part link)

Clean fan area

NOTE:It is easier to remove the motor when the upper housing is still sitting on top of the lower housing unit.
  1. Turn the power off by unplugging the unit.
  2. Next to the speed directions buttons there are thumb tabs. Press the thumb tabs so that they pop up and unlock the upper housing flaps. a tumb tab on
  3. The four flaps should then drop down like the peddles of a flower.
  4. Grab the center of the motor and lift straight up, be careful when pulling the power chord.
  5. The motor, fan and gear assembly should not be seperated from the rest of the unit.
This will let you clean with vinegar and water.

Great product. Germany design at its best

Water wheels do not turn

Unplug the unit from the A/C outlet.  Turn the fan unit over, and with your finger, spin the fan as fast as you easily can.  Tooth like projections should rotate out of the lower most part of the assembly.  These teeth drive the wheel.  If they don't come out, the problem might be in the seating of that silicon rubber nipple, or the "tooth" assembly could be gummed up with algae and deposits.  You can wash it out.  The problem with mine is the teeth work, but the wheel still doesn't move.  I have emailed the sales office for help.  I love the unit's performance, but it is temperamental.  Good luck, and please post, if you fix it.

When you add water, you should notice bubbles (just a few) on top of the water.  When the water no longer has bubbles, the additive is shot, and you should wash out the tank.  We have dirty air, and it takes about 2 weeks for us.  I spray it with Murphy's Soap to soak a few minutes and wipe it out with a sponge.  Rinse.   Spray the wheel similarly (all over) and spray with a kitchen hose, as hot as possible.  You may have to repeat.  I clean my wheel between tank cleaning, so it doesn't build up.  You should use the additive, because the water has to be slippery to work with the wheel.  Maybe you can find a different "wetting solution,"  that would be cheaper;  Venta gets an arm and a leg for it.  Good Luck.  I like the performance of mine, but it is temperamental.
