Does the flash drive been detected by computer? If not, you may try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the flash drive is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager and then assign a drive letter to the flash drive. After that, download a flash drive data recovery software, recommended asoftech data recovery, you can refer to this tutorial
How to recover files from usb drive

If still does not work, you may format it (use quick format) and then use asoftech data recovery to recover your files.

Here's a video tutorial I find very useful

I have just repaired my own flashdrive. I took the outer casing off. On the underside there are 2 small clasps soldered onto the side of the drive. I pinched them back onto the drive wit pliers and hoped for the best. Suprisingly and joyfully it worked. I hope this helps someone.

These guys recoverd my files from my broken-in-two-pieces flash drive in less than a day for $45. I just download the files off the internet when they were done.
I think you can find them if you search "broken flash drive" in Ebay. They are called 24 hour data recovery.

Or maybe this link will work..

If the broken USB can still be identified by a PC, then you will still have a chance to recover the lost files from it.
Please plug the USB into a PC, and then you can recover files deleted from USB step by step by using the tool.

When you delete pictures (or any files) from a memory card or USB memory device the data itself isn't deleted, just the file system pointers that says where the data for those files is located. The area where the deleted picture data was stored is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it is not too late to recover your deleted pictures , you can get Tenorshare Data Recovery to recover.
Download from http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoveryprofessional.htm

I have ever restore Samsung galaxy nexus with this tool, and I know this tool also can help you too.

Thanks, that links has the information and helps me to recover al lmy data from a 8 gb flash drive broken

  • savard1120 Jan 10, 2011

Trying to do it yourself could often cause more damage than is already done. Consulting a professional is a smart move or at least try and get as much information as possible if you are going to try and do it yourself. While it might be cheap to replace a broken flash drive, the data on there is probably not replaceable for most people.

I got great help form this site

Put in my dane elec 16 gb flash key on my computer window ex and other computer window 2007 not recognized its malfunctioned. light is out... need to get all my important files out..

Files on a flash drive canbe corrupted if it is not removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon andthen click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flashdrive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the flash drive to working order you need to format the flash drive,BUT you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.
If you need the data on the flash drive these WEB sites may help: -
