HOW TO SET UP SONY DVD PLAYER WITH HITACHI 42 LCD TV

Based on what you have tried if a buzz or loud static via the speakers you have something wrong in the audio output circuit of the set--problem here is that circuit may be part of the Main board that processes all signal---a look inside---following the speaker leads back would lead you to that board.

A simple thing to do to narrow it a little (you may have done this) is with sound all the way off put your ear to the internal speaker--hear anything at all like a deep hum?

Depending on age of set and cost of the board likely bad it may or may not be a do it yourself repair.

If the cable box needs to be set to 4, the TV will need to be set to 4 as well as the dvd player. The hookup should be cable box to dvd player to the TV for your system to work. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

cables go from dvd player/vcr OUTPUTS to tv's INPUTS,
Then turn tv to Input or AV channel and you should be good.

1.Press [stop]button on DVD player to Stop DVD Playback
2.Press the [resolution] button on the DVD player.
3.change resolution to 480p
if you get a picture in 480P, continue your setup of the DVD player
If you still have no picture perform the next steps (stop at the step if you recieve a picture):
4. verify the video input of the DVD player to the TV and reselct it on the TV
5. use Video cable to verify the DVD player is still working
6 disconnect/reconnect HDMI cable to TV
7. power off/on the TV
8. power off/on the DVD player

5. turn off TV then Tunr

Connect RCA Red-White audio cable to INPUT of DAV-HDX500 and hook it to TV AUDIO OUT pins at back of TV.
Now select INPUT in DAV-HDX500 to get TV sound in Sony system speakers.

the directv needs hookedup to the tv, also the dvd player needs hooked up to the back of the tv, what type of cabling are you using, red/white/yellow or coax (where it screws in) or does it plug in and say hdmi, etc.

Real easy, get a RCA audio cable (red and white ends) that is long enough to go from the tv inputs to your receiver inputs. Plug one end into the audio out on the back of your tv, then plug other end into input on your receiver (tv, cd or vcr). Now everything going to tv will output to receiver also. You may have to go into the TV menu and under audio, set audio output to fixed. Then you can change the volume on your receiver which is best way to go.

**Advanced** If your TV and receiver has optical capability you can use an optical cable instead.

is your dvd player is a blue ray or hd dvd ? if it is you need to go into the setup menu of the dvd and set it for 1080. if it's just an older dvd player it will be at 480

I have the same set and I've fitted a HD Fury to the RGB connection, I'm now watching full HD pictures via my Technomate 6900 combo Satellite receiver and Sony BDP300 blu-ray dvd player... it works and works very well indeed. Any questions on this mail me [email protected].

switch on the dvd player so it's playing, then do a new master tune. press the dtt/tv button so you are watching the internal freeview system, then press menu, then go to installation, and re-install all channels. the tv will then detect your dvd player in the intial set up/tune mode.
