I just had to do this on mine. Remove the pump/motor assembly
completely from the washer. (That means you have to take the hoses and the the electrical harness off. To remove the electrical harness- take the flat cover off the top of the motor, and unclip the multi- wire plug- you should have it unplugged from the power outlet, of course) Remove the torx screws that press the pump onto the motor shaft. At this point I took it down to the apliance store- and let them beat the pump off the shaft- so I would know if I would need a new pump or not. As it turned out, the pump was leaking- so I went ahead and replaced- ~$65. The belt was ~$30 -a rip off there... I wanted a new pulley also, as the old was corroded- unavalable, so I had to clean up the old. Pay special attention to how the belt sits in relation to pump and motor- you don't want to have to pull the pump off again. The pump is basically pressed onto the shaft- so use a lot of grease putting things back together- grease the bolts, clean up and grease the shaft, I even use grease on the hoses where they clamp to pump. If you don't have a set of torx wrenches, you can usually make an allen wrench work- that's how I did mine. The tension pulley should ride on the back side of the belt, tensionong the belt toward itself.

How do i change my belt on my washer

  • leo28542 Jul 12, 2010

a mechanics tool called a pickle fork helps get the pump off the motor. google it for a picture. its an angled fork that you wedge in between the pulley and plastic pump housing. 4 good wacks with a rubber mallet and it popped out with no damage. good luck

Belt off how do you put it on?

This washer does not run by belt drive, it has a direct inverted drive motor with a motor coupler between the motor and the transmission, if you need assistance on how to replace the motor coupler please comment back. If you can see a belt under the washer than you have listed the wrong model as your washer.

How to replace drive belt

Nothing could be simpler. No tools needed. Tip the washer on it's back and ease the belt back on there. c5b917f.jpg
Before you mount another belt on there you need to check the pump for stiffness. On these washers the pump sometimes locks up and burns a belt up.

Tighten the belt on an Amana washer?

The belt should already be pretty tight after wrapping around the barrel and the motor pulley. The belt may be worn and should be inspected and probably replaced.
To prevent similar problems in the future I suggest you be aware of how big of a load you put in the washer.

AMANA WASHER WON'T SPIN. HOW DO I REPLACE THE BELT?

is this a whirlpool built amana? if so, its most likely a direct drive model, and when it doesn`t spin its likely a coupling between the gearcase and motor assembly...youtube has videos on how its replaced, which isn`t too complicated to do...good luck

Changing a belt

the belt is under the washer. you may be able to reach it if you do not have a cover on the bottom of the washer... if you do have a cover on the bottom than you will need to pull the washer out. and take the back panel of the washer off. from there you will be able to see under the washer. you will be able to see the belt. just release the tensinor and replace the belt....
