Re: Mitsubishi Rear Projection TV model #WD52725 purchased 2005.
Very loud buzzing sound came from area near lamp, not speakers, almost sounding as if a fan was dragging at first, like overheating. Changed lamp & cleaned filter but sound persisted, becoming consistent with no picture/no TV sounds except for buzzing noise. After turning TV off, sound remains for a minute or two, then stops. Any ideas? Nothing about noise in troubleshooting manual. Thank you. Kubbas

This is a DLP They have issues with the color wheel, the winding sound could be from this color wheel. If it stops spinning it will cause the tv to shut down. DLP is a mechanical display process. If you are handy and understand electronics you could replace this yourself. If not i would let a tech handle it.

I have just experienced the same issue with my mitsubishi WD62525 as well...thought it may have been a lamp issue as well....replaced the lamp with the spare and still have the same symptoms...(only difference is that my timer light just continues to blink green and never turns red???) I cleaned out the rear filter...was not really that dusty so not sure what else it may be????
