The tv menu keeps popping up

My Sharp Aquos lc37d44u menu keeps to popping up on its own. Since this has started happening my TV remote no longer works. Also when ever I try and control the volume or change the input the tv menu pops up.

I had the same problem. In my situation it wasn't the remote controller, but I solved it by changing a setting in the menu. Go to your menu, choose 'Options', go to 'Demonstration' and turn OFF the demonstration. In my case the tv was continuously giving a demonstration. So turn off the demo and perhaps its solved :)

Hello,

The reason your television keeps popping up the menu is simply because, either the remote or the televisions menu button is stuck.

To test if it is the remote, remove the battery from the back of the remote and try to operate the television from the buttons on the television to see if it works, if it pops up, then it means the problem is not from the remote and its from the television.

Either ways you have to open the remote and clean the panel with naphthalene, then adjust the menu button on it. or you can as well get a new remote for your television if you cannot clean it on your own.

Also to fix the television if it is detected as the fault, get the appropriate screwdriver, open up the television, then try to locate the menu button, then you adjust it and try to operate with either the remote of the menu key on the television.

Once it is seen to be working, ensure that the television is properly coupled back.

Always make sure the keys on the coputer and the television are not pressed too hard.

Take care

Worked like a charm. Just had to jiggle the menu button on the TV and problem solved.

bad remote clicker ,buy a new Remote,
or the the battery is near died causing the clicker to do wild things, the BATTERIES do not last long.
learn to try new batteries first.
spilled drinks kill clickers. and sure wiggles work on nasty keys. (until if fails soon again)

See if it still happens with the batteries removed from the remote

Just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket. Replug it after 10 minutes or so. This must make the TV a hard reset.

Remote control does not work. If you unplug TV and plug back in remote works, then fails again in a few days.

you may have a firmware bug, check your firmware version GO: Menu --> Digital Setup --> Identification, and if says "S0712041" you have the lasted firmware otherwise upgrade.
if you dont know how do it is 100% recommend you that Please contact Sharp at 1-800-BE-SHARP (237-4277) and report the problem, Sharp will give you a Case # that you will need if any service is to be needed or done.

My dvd player doesn't fill the screen on my Sharp

There are settings on most DVD players as well as TV's that allow you to adjust the type of display you want. Make sure both the DVD and TV are set to the same display type (usually either 16:9 for your type of TV). If that still does not fill the screen you will have to use the Zoom function on either your DVD or TV. This will cut off part of your movie, but should allow you to fill the screen. Most DVD movies will also allow you to choose widescreen or normal viewing from their menu. Again, you will lose a small part of either side of the movie, but at least you will fill your screen.
