Casio pro trek prg-80T model 2894 display says "open"

Battery level is and always has been "high". Not suffered any hard impact. About 3 years old. All fixings appear tight and there is no movement on the casing. Top half of display says "open" and no functions work except the time. Pressing the back ofthe watch causes functionality to restore but immediately afterwards it is lost and the word "open" appears again. All advice welcomed. Thanks.

May need a battery replacement. My solar atomic watch battery died after 3 months. Casio said the battery was not covered by the warranty. Check this YouTube video for the battery replacement process:

after opening the watch, I found out, that the OPEN switch consists out of two little gold colored springs, touched by a copper plate glued to the back plate of the watch. This copper plate was slightly mis adjusted. Relocating this plate solved the problem.

I watched the youtube vid on replacing battery on g-shock, and set out to do the same on my tripple sensor. I did not succeed opening my watch (module 2894 - metal band). I removed the 4 screws (on the front side) as well as 2 screws holding the presure sensor). This allows to remove 2 parts around the bezel, but stil did not manage to free the backplate. Any suggestions anyone?

Have you ever remove the back cover? May be battery is exhausted even it shows "high".The best is to open the watch(easy),remove the battery, check to a battery checker its condition. If good, reinsert battery and see what will happen. The best way to reset all electronic devices is to remove and reinsert the battery. That resets almost all functions.

I think all you have to do,is simply open(very carefully-be sure that you can do that, first) the back cover of the watch.By pressing the back cover and having instant functionality, means to me that the watch has already been opened and not well closed back.Back cover is not correctly set in position.Removing the back cover, try carefully with a lens to see a little spring coming out somewhere of the mecanism.Be sure that this spring is well in position and not bent. The spring has to touch the inner surface of the back cover.CHECK THE RUBBER GASKET IF WELL IN POSITION TOO.When sure that everything looks ok,put back the back cover carefully, paying attention for the letters engraved to look correctly(not upside down).SREW WITH MUCH CAUTION(NOT TOO TIGHT).
The other possibility is that for some unknown reason(electronics are electroncs) the watch needs to be "reset"by opening and closing the back cover.Follow this and I think that your problem will be resolved. If nevertheless problem persists(very rare case) take the watch to an authorized Casio Service.

I have solved this problem by opening the back plate and reposition the small copper plate to its place by gluing it so this plate directly facing contact to the two springs gold color.

Well guys myself I purchased this kind of watch in Zona Franca (Free Market) Iquique Chile South America, I needed it because I was in South America and I rich altitudes of 5200 meters altitude in Peru.
I been to Machu-Pitchu Peru off Cusco the sacred city of Inca and the altitude was at the level of the city of 2200 meters altitude.
In Chile I been and lived in various cities but I find very interesting Calama 2200 meters altitude, a miner's city for the largest open cooper mine in the world, tours are free you have to be there.
The name of the mine is Chiuquecamata Codelco company belonging to the government working nonstop 365, before and alternatively went there I invented a 20" foldable bicycle with motor and went all over Atacama desert, everybody I astonish with my invention also in Peru where people statrt a revolution because of my bicycle with motor.
I did like the desert and enjoy it I remember a trip I did on bicycle with motor from Calama to Harbour Antofagasta with less than 1 gallon of gas, I always used my Protek it is necessary and many people were interested to see also the altitude on my Protek and other functions.
I find that it is good to have a Protek of which I share always my experince about it with friends back the country I was living.
I had the same problem with the word "open" apear on screen, and I took it to an autorized Casio repair and they did fix the problem, as the instruction manual is so tick I lost it and now I need to do some fuctions for the reason I am on this window. GOD bless all of you.

Casio PRO TREK error 'OP EN' Display frozen with the above msg. None of the buttons - except the light - works. Whats wrong .. battery charge shows FULL

The problems is very simple: On the back cover (inside) is a little Cu metal Part. This part is glued to back cover using a poor glue (rubbered glue) and, in time, is moving from original position. You must put back this parts to original positin ( a little hole inside of back cover) and glue using a good glue. When the back cover is mounted , this part must have a ferm contact with two springs from mechanism (sensor for back cover open). If beatwin this springs isn't a electric short (using Cu metal parts) the internal mechanism of watch "see" the back cover is open and show "OPEN" on screen!

I have a Casio Pathfinder PAG-70 that reads "OPEN" on the display where the date should be. It is a solar powered watch and shouldn't need a battery change. Any ideas?

Casio protrek 2894

The battery does NOT need replaced.
The word "Open" on this watch means that the sensor inside the back of the watch has detected that that the back is open. I ended up having to repair this problem myself after a local watch repair guy told me he didn't want to mess with it. You'll have to get a micro-philips screwdriver and remove a few screws and pop the end caps off to get to your problem.
After you have removed the screws and end caps inside the back there's a small spring that pushes against a copper disk glued to the back of the watch. The problem is that Casio has used a crappy glue to hold this disk in place and it needs to be removed and reglued to the back in it's proper place with super glue. It's a pain in the **** but I have repaired mine by doing this. BTW...I have found a video or another help for this fix on line so I won't go too much into it. Do a Google search and you'll find the step by step process listed elsewhere.
