I have just bought a toshiba laptop and the volume was working fine until today. I have tried to click on my speaker icon but it says no volume output device is on the computer. how could this have changed? and how do i get my volume back?
Go to control panel/sound and audio devices/audio and check your sound card also check place an audio icon in the taskbar (you might uncheck it and check it again)

Anonymous, depending on your setup and laptop, you may be able to press the FN button and hold it while you press the speaker button up or down. If you have a Speaker icon in the lower right screen near the Time you can click on that to change the volume. If that is not available, you can right click that area and select properties. Then, see that the Speaker icon is set to ON to show up on your screen. Hope this helps.
C55-A Toshiba , Low volume on my ear phones . Click on speaker icon . Click on Speaker icon, at top of speaker Volume . This will take you to Speaker properties . Select drop down menu in the advanced tab. I changed my bit rate until I found one that worked with my ear phones .
if the laptop is less than 6 months old you should still have warranty you could retutn it on a warranty issue before you touch anything but you could attempt some basic troubleshooting if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers click start control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers make sure you have selected the (((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settingsthere also click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar if his does not fix the problem
have you tried this control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand,system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer hope this helps

Sometimes problems can occur when you have a laptop and a webcam and default is not set within your computer. On this page click on downloads, on the operating system pull-down menu choose Windows Vista, then in the pull-down menu next to it choose Sound.

Have you tried reinstalling the audio drivers? Check in device manager and see if you see a question mark by the speaker icon. If you double click on it, it will allow you to reinstall your drivers. Good Luck.
