Viking Wine Cellar Temperature Near-Freezing

I've noticed my Viking Wine Cellar randomly dropping its temperature to below 40 degrees despite being set for 55 degrees. The temperature read-out still displays 55 while the actual temperature is much, much lower. When I unplug and replug the unit, the temperature gauge finally starts displaying the accurate temperature.
Question is: What are possible causes for the wine fridge to be over 20 degrees colder than setting?

Thanks. The unit has been with the repair shop for two weeks and they've been unable to replicate the problem. They claim the unit is fine. Is there anyway to diagnose this problem without actually seeing it take place?

I talked to the Viking repair shop. They said when this happened the first time, they replaced the:
    Main Control Board
    Evaporator famister (sp?)
    Product famister (sp?)

Does that sound like they did everything they could? The issue still persists.

    Thanks!

Viking wine coolers are made by Marvel. They all had issues with freezing the contents. If you replace the electronic cold control system it will be fine.If you don't, it will freeze the wine popping the corks and leaking in the unit.If you get the parts from Marvell they are much cheaper.

With intermittent problems like this it is difficult. In the past,we change the the cold control system and we never hear from the customer again. It always seem to solve the problem. You could take the unit back as is and it might be fine for a few weeks or so and then it will happen again.if it was my wine cooler,I would just replace the cold control system and be done with it.

Which brand provides the best wine coolers?

I don't know but if I needed to find out I would look first at the brands used by commercial establishments that buy for long life and reliability.

While it is fashionable for wine to be overcooled, my father's words often come back to me, "if a drink has to be chilled to taste good, it is poor quality".
White wines and pale beers are traditionally kept in a cellar.
Cellar temperatures are between 45 and 54 F; comparatively mild temperatures that for most of the year in the temperate regions no refrigeration is needed...

Breeze air wkl 3000 blinking temperature al

NEW UNITS HAVE A VISUAL ALARM PRE SET TO KICK ON AT 62 DEGREES OR ABOVE, WHE THE WINE COOLING UNIT READS 62 OR ABOVE IT WILL FLASH "AL" AND THE TEMPERATURE NUMBER THAT FORVED IT TO KICK ON, IT IS JUST A VISUAL ALARM IT WILL NOT TURN UNIT OFF OR STOP IT .

THIS FEATURE WILL SHUT OFF ONCE THE UNIT READS ANY TEMPERATURE BELOW 62 DEGREES.

What is the red light that looks like a snowflake

The snowflake appears when the outside temperature drops to 40 degrees or below, it then changes to red when it is 32 degrees and below. It seems the manufacturer thinks this will assist you with your driving habits on frozen roadways.

Hi, could be faulty thermostat, can you check compressor, is compressor running (working), listen to compressor for clicking sound, unplug it(switched off) for about 20 minutes, replug and let it run (work) for another 20 mins. see if temp. drops, what about temp. inside bottle (wine) cooler, is it 98 or colder, more info. could be valuable. check thermostat, check to see if compressor operates, if cooler temp. 98. remove you products, to another cooler, call mechanic.

As I can improve the yield of refrigeration of the digging, it is already difficult to maintain the indicated temperature

Here is the breakdown on this machine by temperature - it only works optimally in a room that is 68-70 degrees, which is a little on the cold side:

to actually reach 7 degrees Celsius, the room temp must be 68 degrees Farenheit or below
to reach 9 C, room must be 70 F or below
to reach 11 C, room must be 72 F or below
ETC...

all problems with this wine cellar will be aggravated during the summer months

Cuisinart Private Reserve wine cellar

It is normal. The goofy thing about this wine cellar is that once the ambient temperature is above 70 degrees - which is actually a low room temperature - the fan works constantly. You would have to make sure the wine cellar is in an area that stays below 68 degrees (brrrr) for it to shut off sometimes.
