TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If that doesn't work, add a comment to this post and we'll go from there.

I dropped my TI 84 and now it wont turn on

If you are lucky it may just be that the batteries are dislodged. Open battery compartment and and reseat the batteries. Try it.

TI-84 plus silver edition wont do anything and is kinda frozen. I got my new calculator today and i hooked it up to the computer i installed the TI connect hardware and then ran a OS update not paying...

You can try to take out the aaa's and leave it sit for a minute or so. If that fails you can try to take out all the batteries (including the back up battery) and leave it sit. If that still doesn't work, then you can try calling TI-cares (800-842-2737), I hope this helps

I have a TI 84 plus silver edition. Won't turn

The problem may be due a screen that is too light to see anything on it. Adjust the screen darkness.
  1. Press [2nd] key and release it.
  2. Press and HOLD the [UpArrow] to draken screen.
  3. Release the [UpArrow] when screen is dark enough.
You can also connect it to the computer to see if TI Connect finds it. If it does, update the OS to version 2.53MP.

You change the backup battery if the calculator tells you RAM CLEARED each time you turn it ON.

Frozen ti 84 plus silver edition

Ther is no reset button. You have to take the batteries out.

Take the AAA batteries out and take the back up battery out...located in a little door with a screw just above the AAA batteries. Leave the batteries out for about 8 hours. This is how you reset a TI graphing calculator.

TI-84 Plus Silver Edition turns off immediately, all batteries have been replaced, but unit still turns off. I even replaced the memory battery.

You may need to reset calculator. Take ou the batteries and the backup battery. Leave them out for about 8 hours. Then put everything back in. Hopefully this will work.

My TI-84 silver edition has frozen, It is stuck on the same screen and nothing appears when I hit buttons, it wont even turn off. When I remove the batteries and place them back in the same screen appears....

I had the same problem. I remove all four batteries and the battery backup that is underneath the little phillips screw in the battery compartment. I immediately replaced it and the other batteries and everything worked. FYI, others have called for keeping the batteries out for 8 hours.

Won't stay on.

have you tried manually resetting like the manual suggests? Take out the AAA's only, hold the ON button for 10 seconds and then re-install the batteries and turn it on. If that doesn't work, I have no other suggestions.
