VCR, DVD, TV Connection

I am trying to copy my old VHS tapes to my DVD player. I have a connection comming in from my Direct TV box out to my DVD and then back to my tv. All of this is via cables. There is no problem there as I can watch DVD's without any problems. I have an older GE VHS Plus+ VHS player that just has a yellow and white RCA jacks for sound and video. There is also a connection for a cable in and out to the TV. As I stated earlier, the connection to the cabel connection on the tv is already taken from the DVD. My VHS has no other connections.

Any assistance you can render would truly be appreciated.

I think that you cannot copy video to DVD player directly, and you need a transfer station - a PC.
You can transfer your old VHS tapes to PC and then transfer it from PC to DVD player. This will need you to connect the DVD player to the PC, if you don't know how to do that, you can check this article for help.

First let me say that a dvd player and a dvd recorder are different. the dvd player can only play dvd while a dvd recorder can both play and record dvd that is said. what i understand from what you write is currently is - out of your tv box into your dvd player then out of your player into your tv........ ok some dvd has two connections. line one and line two if your tv box is in line one then you should plug the rca cable in line two in. then you select line two on the dvd player then plug the other end to your vcr in line out so that is out of your vcr into line two of your dvd player.(some times one of the connection is at the front of your player hidden) if your dvd player only have one connection then you would have to plug out your tv box and replace it with the vcr cable and when you finish coping your vhs tape you plug in back your tv box to your dvd player. hope i could help.......... Cannott get a picture on my tv from my DVD/VHS COMBO

Your DVD player should be connected to either the Yellow White Red connections on your TV set (same color to same color -- dvd OUT to tv IN )

OR it should be connected using the RF cables and connected inline AFTER the Direct TV Box....the box would block the DVD; and possibly the Direct TV Master box would apply 19 Volts to the DVD modulator....destroying the modulator.

Always OUTput to INput on the connections...

Also try with a new set of connections. make sure all the ports are ok.

Problems with Philips vhs recorder/dvd player

You only need coaxial cable to pick up TV stations broadcast via an aerial. If your TV has sockets to connect via HDMI or SCART, then any players can be connected via them. So if the adapter box picks up TV signals, you connect the main aerial cable to that and it should have a coaxial out socket, that should be connected to the aerial in of your TV. If you are recording to an analogue video from the adapter box, then that will need to be connected via a scart socket or other connection.

HELP! I can't figure out how to Connect my Sylvania DVD/VCR Combo to my older TV

Even if you do get it connected you cannot copy from vhs to dvd as you have bought a vcr recorder with dvd player, not a dvd recorder. You can only record to the vcr tape from a dvd, in the players controls.
