This is an error code that pertains to the evaporator motor but could also be the main board.
If the evaporator motor is running, the main board will probably need to be replaced.
It could be a wiring problem but it's not very likely.

If the motor is not running, some voltage checks will need to be made, at the motor and board, to determine which component has failed.
These checks require a meter and can be difficult to make, even for a technician.

I feel like a voice in the wilderness...the error FF indicates that the freezer fan is not running...this is the fan that circulate cold air around both the freezer and the fridge...here is MY reason for typing this...the freezer ices up due to excess humidity. In my case the mullion, that fancy innovations that allows you to open ether fridge doors was not operating. This meant that there was often a gap between the fridge doors and this allowed air and moisture to get in. Hence the ice build up. Check your left hand fridge door and see if the mullion is moving into place when the fridge door is closed. If not realign the door (UPWARDS) using the cir-clips that came with the unit until it works properly...

As I said in another post, the problem causing the ice buildup is humidity in either the fridge or or the freezer.

What er ff mean at Error message on display of Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Hi.

Error ff (er ff) means defective fan detected. Before calling support or before replacing the fan try performing a complete defrost by leaving power disconnected for one day (remove food from inside the unit first). That will fix the problem if the fan was temporarily malfunctioning because of ice formation. If that does not work the fan must be tested before replacement.

If you need parts see this tip explaining how to find parts and diagrams for most appliances: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

Regards.

Door display reads ER FF

All error codes will display "ER" on the left side - that simply means error. In your case your error code is FF - which stands for freezer fan, or in technical terms, evap fan. Open your freezer and look for the vents where cool air blows out - do you feel any air coming out, do you hear the fan ? It is possible your evap fan stopped working or excessive frost around it - are you able to turn off unit and remove the back panel of your freezer held by screws, look for any excessive frost or anything blocking the evap fan - if there is no objects or frost blocking fan, then you have need to call service and have them replace your evaporator fan assembly - also note if your freezer fan is not working, then you won't get any cooling to either your freezer or your refrigerator - If you notice excessive frost and see that it is preventing your fan from operating you can use a blow dryer and defrost manually and see if it works again afterwards - if problem returns eventually then you have an auto defrost problem you will have to get it serviced and check the control board and defrost timer + components. Make sure you turn off refrigerator and unplug when checking things yourself at the back - if you are not comfortable doing this call service.

Error message

Hello gravyblast.
Welcome to Fixya.

You said, your Kenmore Elite Trio, model 795.7756 or 7757 has an error message simply reading ER IF. No pressing of buttons, or combination thereof changes anything. Also, the ice maker has stopped working although it is turned on.
Can anyone help?
I cannot pull the refrigerator out to unplug and reboot it, thus I don't know what to do.

Try tripping the breaker off for 5 minutes and then see if this method resets the system?
Do not turn it back on for at least tree minutes. That's why I said, Five!!!

Lets see how it resets while I look your fridge up.
Write back. Huuum

Thermostat shows "Err" "FF"

Well, this may be a solution, at least in our case. While were were unpacking the refrigerator and dumping food into coolers, we also unloaded the freezer, even though it appeared to still be running.

After clearing it out, we noticed that the icemaker device in the upper left corner was all iced up, like an old freezer does without self-defrosting. We thought our machine was a self-defroster and this made us suspicious.

We unplugged the appliance and defrosted this upside-down iceberg in the freezer. After it was cleared out, we plugged it back and and lo and behold, the thermostat came on! Here it is 12 hours later and it is still running.

So, it may not be the actual cause, but I can't come up with another solution at the moment. By the way, it makes us wonder if the error code "FF" that we had stood for "freezer fan". Perhaps that iceflow interrupted the fan or its circulation, somehow? In any event, other people with this same error code (FF) might check for icing forming around the icemaker.
