I need to replace motor on MTD chipper/shredder. The motor is a Briggs and Stratton 10 h.p. I do not know if I need a special wheel puller to seperate the 'blade cutting wheel " from motor shaft. Are there any diagrams to disassembe?

I believe it is part of the systen shut off. Should be connected to the motor (ground).

Squirt a couple of spoonfuls of oil into the spark plug hole to increase the compression as it has been sitting so long. Also squirt a little starting fluid into the carb. and give it a shot I think it will start. Hope this will. donnyb60

defiantly the carb but its not bad - clean / soak it with some seafoam and blow out all the holes. its just clogged and isnt getting the fuel/air mixture right.

Sounds like the carb is gummed up. Do a complete carb cleaning and see if it helps.
