Our wall clock was not wound a couple of months ago (it is a chime clock that chimes on the hour and half hour with weights) and when we rewound it, everything works fine except that the chime is out of sync with the clock time and is about 7 hours off - how can we correct this issue? It is a German clock and the website we found is all in German - so no luck there! Can someone help?

The next time it chimes multiple times turn the hour hand clockwise until it is pointing at the number of times it gonged. Next take off the dial nut off (make sure to put it in a plastic bag because they can be hard to replace) and turn the minute hand until it chimes signaling 15 minutes after. Now put the minute hand back on pointing to 3 o'clock and replace your dial nut and you are all set.

You were not very specific about you clock description, Many of the German clocks were using auto correct features.

You may not have this function.

Move the hour hand to the correct hour.

Hope this tip help you.

My clock chimes on the half hour and counts on the hour. It chimes 2 minutes late on each. How to I get the chime on the half hour and hour?

Get it to chime then loosen minute hand then move hand back to the 12 or 6 position tighten minute hand and test to see if that works

It's a 3 key chime and strike clock that chimes every 15 min and strikes hours. for last one month it doesn't chime at 12, 3, 6, and 9 position and the hour strike is not synchronous with min hand

More than likely, there are springs that activate the levers for it to chime, or bong, they may have got jammed up, you can open it up, and see if you see anything like that, if not, you will have to take it to your local jewelry store, or watch/clock makers to have them take a look. You never indicated what type of clock (make or model) so I can\'t be certain. Maybe a ships clock? They may want to charge you for a overhaul of the movement, but you can tell them to just "make it work" if it was running fine before (keeping time well) then an overhaul probably isn\'t necessary. It sounds like something may have got jammed.
I hope this helps !

We have a Acctim barrery operated westminster chime wall clock and cannot get the clock to work, pendulum & chimes work but not the clock, is there a reset button, how do we get it working. it is 11yrs...

Press the red button at the back and go through all the hourly chimes until you get to the next chime due i.e. if its 3.15 whebn your doing this, only go through the chimes until 3 o'clock and no further. Then turn the hands clockwise ONLY never anticlockwide and she should be fine.

Have a Galleria Grandfather clock thats chimes are off. How do I get them correct? Bought it at an auction and did not get any information with it. It chimed correctly in the beginning.

I suspect that the mechanism needs cleaning.

Take a look inside and if there is the slightest sign of dirt (particularly on the striking mechanism) then it should behave properly after cleaning.

I have a forestville wall clock with the pull down weights. when it chimes it is behind in time. example nine oclock chimes seven oclock, it is a made in germany clock but what year i do not know. there...

Stop the pendulum of the clock exactly at any even hour. Lets say at 6.00. While clock is steady and not working, pull off the minute and hour hands off the pinion, but do not brake them. You have to pull without any twisting action. This will leave pinions exactly in place they were when you stopped the clock. When it is done - push the hour hand back onto the pinion and make sure it is pointing at 4 (not 6, as it was when you stopped the clock). When hour hand is back in place and pointing at 4, push back minute hand as it was when you pulled it off - pointing at 12. Make sure hands will not catch when passing each other (you can bend them slightly if needed). Now swing pendulum to start the clock and adjust time (clockwise only). Never adjust time when clock is chiming. Rate me, plz.
