If you're willing to have all RAM cleared, try a hard reset.

Press and hold the 2ND, Left-arrow, and Right-arrow keys.
Press and release the ON key.

Hello!

I had the same problem. I've tried a new OS, but nothing worked.
But I found the solution. It's quite simple.

Push every button you can find on the calculator at the same time, just give the thing a tsunami of input. (use your fist if necessary)

In my case, it got stuck on the home screen, and then it worked again.

Sometimes voilence is an option :D

How do i convert a decimal answer to fraction format on a TI 89 titanium.... prefferably with matrixes

It is just a matter of being in EXACT mode. To set your calculator in EXACT mode here's the key sequence. Press [MODE] [F3] [Up Arrow] [Up Arrow] [Right Arrow] [2] [ENTER]. Now when your in the Matrix Editor you can input your numbers in decimal form and, they will be automatically be converted to a fractional format. Pictured below is a matrix that was entered using decimal numbers and, was converted into factional form. Notice at the bottom of the screen the calculator is in EXACT mode.

Here's the same matrix in the HOME screen.

Next is the same matrix converted back to decimal numbers. Notice at the bottom of the screen the calculator is in APPROX mode.

And of course when I turn the calculator back to EXACT mode and, Re-ENTER the decimal formatted matrix in the HOME screen the fractional formatted matrix reappears.

You can use the propFrac( command but, having in the EXACT mode setting works better.

My TI-89 Titanium will not power on no matter if i change the batteries or press any buttons, any ideas?

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and hold the diamond key. Press and hold the + key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If this doesn't do it, please respond to this post and we can go on from there.

My ti 89 calculator turns on but the screen is blank. i don't get any results when i push the apps button.

Having gone five months without a response, I assume either the contrast adjustment or the reset solved the problem.

My TI 89 wont turn on

Hello,
Try to increase the contrast
1. Turn it on
2. press [2nd] and release button
3. Press [UpArrow] and release button
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until contrast is adequate.

If that does not work use the link below to install TIConnect software
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/productDetail/us_ti_connect.html
Install it on your computer and run it to oppen the main Window. Then connect you calculator to a USB port and, in the TIConnect main window Click the TIConnect TIDeviceInfo. It will try retrieve the info.
If it does your calculator is fine.

If it tells you Device Not found , Click communication settings in same pop up window where it said Not found, and Select Device, Select Cable, Select Port and try OK..

If all that does not work, then it may be time look for a repair shop.

If you are lucky and it works, you should reinstall the OS, which can be downloaded from education.ti.com. You drag and drop the OS on the TIconnect main window. Calculator must of couse be connected to computer.
Hope it helps

Ti-89 help

You create a program by using the program editor. Press the "APPS" key and select "Program Editor".

What type of data graph do you want? The TI-89 can plot Scatter, XYline, Box, and Histgram graphs. Use the "Plot Setup" screen to select the desired plot type.
