I have a Nikon Coolscann 8000 and a Mac computer. I only have the original software with the 8000 and it will not upload with the newer Mac operating systems. How do I get updated software for the 8000.

Then click on coolscan then on software downloads and select the relevant software. Hope this helps.

Having gone over four months without a response, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader solved the problem.

if using iPhoto, check for software updates. When the newer cameras come out, sometimes it results in incompatibility with the software and they're always working to update this.
Also check your card in your camera. Some of the newer high speed cards struggle with uploads. You can purchase aftermarket high speed card readers and this will allow firewire rapid uploads direct to iPhoto and Aperture.

.Nef is Nikon's RAW image identifier. See if there's an update for iPhoto at Mac website. Perhaps your camera (if it's new) is not yet set up to upload to iPhoto. You didn't indicate what camera you're using.

I'm sorry there are no drivers for this camera, no one is making them for windows 98, windows xp and newer come with the software build in.

I'll save you some time and fustration, take the camera - memory card to a local camera shop or a photo place where they can print them out or burn them to a CD, then you can view them on your computer from the CD.

Make sure that the computer you are using meets the criteria for the program with both the operating system and hardware. If so, try un-installing the camera software and then re-installing it. Beyond this, the problem can become a little complicated and require you to call the tech support from Nikon. They should know what it required to make their program function properly.

I If you use nikon scan you get a different error warning Update nikon scan and also gdiplus.ddll update from thre nikon web site. It worked for me.

You must have a software in your computer to read the pictures. It can be kodak easy share, hp photo smart, or any photosmart software. This softwares might be available in the brands website for free.
Your computer needs a photo program to upload your pictures.

One easy way is to go to a store with photo service and have your camera card pictures put on a CD. This CD usually brings photo programs sofware and you will be able to use them next time from your camera into the program then into the computer.

Jim try looking into the vuescan software.  It comes highly recommended and is priced very reasonably.
