Persistent paper jam message

Paperjam due to stapled 2 pages accidently in paper tray. Opened, removed paper remaining under cartridge/drum combo. Cleaned copier.
Persistent "paper jam, open upper cover message. I suspect jammed sensor, or small piece of paper corner remaining, but none visible. I am handy at computer repair, etc. I s there on line service manual to show where hidden sensors or rollers might be? How do I remove cover/ open unit to look for problem sensor/hidden paper?

Accidently listed under wrong model. This is an OKI B4300 printer, which I have had for several years.

  • Anonymous Feb 27, 2008

I found a solution suggested by some-one else in November

    This is an OKIB4300

I opened top, removed toner/drum. On your left, in front, there is metal roller held by springs. Plastic strip is just in front of this. Two square windows under plastic strip should look dark.

In my case, the Left "window "was white. This was a very small piece of paper which also extended under a small, moveable magnetic switch to the far left. I removed this paper by grabbing it (next to the switch) with a pair of surgical forceps, gently twisting it until it could be pulled out. No need to remove any parts. It now is fixed!

Thanks again this site really helped me.

I fixed this problem in february 2008 as I described in the previous comments. It is still working perfectly on October 10, 2008.

My xerox is constantly have a paper jam the error code is 077-106

1.Check if the guides are in the correct position.

2. The issue may also occur if the tray is overloaded. To avoid the paper jam, do not load creased, damp or curled paper.

3. Use a torchlight to check for jammed paper inside the paper trays. Remove the sheets stuck in the trays using both your hands.

4. Remove the trays, drum cartridge, and toner cartridge. Clear any jammed paper. Re-insert the drum cartridge and toner cartridge. Replace the trays.

5. The issue may also occur due to Feeder jams. Open the tray to lower the elevator in the base of the tray automatically.

6. Remove any crumpled paper from the tray and close the Feeder door.

T652n 202.03 paperjam

1Open the upper-front cover and remove the toner cartridge.2
Look into the printer. Remove any jammed sheets of paper that you find there.

  • If the print job only consisted of this one page, reinstall the toner cartridge and close the front cover. Press the pattlnk_10162008_2247-select_button.jpg button to clear the error, and then try printing again.

  • If the print job consisted of more than one page, confirm the entire paper path is clear before printing again. Do the following:

    1. Remove the top paper tray ('Tray 1').
    2. Remove any jammed or partially-fed sheets of paper you find here, then reinstall the tray.
    3. Go around to the back of the machine and open the upper-rear cover. Remove any jammed sheets of paper you find, then close the cover.
    4. Once you have confirmed that the entire paper path is clear, reinstall the toner cartridge and close the front cover.
    5. Press the pattlnk_10162008_2247-select_button.jpg button to clear the error, and then try printing again.

  • If you cannot locate any jammed paper under the toner cartridge, then check the rest of the printer for any jammed paper. Do the following:

    • Remove the top paper tray ('Tray 1') and look for any jammed or partially-fed sheets of paper.
    • If you do not find any jammed pages there, reinstall the tray and go around to the back of the machine. Open the upper-rear cover and look there.
    • If the entire paper path appears to be clear, close the rear cover and power off the printer. Reinstall the toner cartridge and close the front cover. Power the printer back on. If a 200 error continues on power up, a sensor in the printer may be malfunctioning. This will require a service call to correct the issue. I do not know how to remove the drum to fix a paperjam

Brother strongly recommends that customers do not use generic drum unitsand/or toner cartridges, or refill their Brother toner cartridge. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the Verify the message displayed on the LCD.

Warning: If you just used the machine some parts inside the machine are extremely hot.

1. Pull the paper tray completely out of the machine.

2. Pull the jammed paper out of the paper tray opening. If you are unable to remove the jammed paper continue to STEP 3. If you are able toremove the jammed paper continue to STEP 9.

3. Open the front cover. If you cannot open the front cover, do not useextra force. See below for further assistance.

4. Pull out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. The jammed papermay be pulled out with the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly, or removing the drum and toner assembly may release the paper so you canpull it out of the paper tray opening.

a. If you are able to remove the drum assembly and jammed paper continueto STEP 5.

b. If you cannot remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly easily, do not use extra force. See below for further assistance.

5. Place the drum unit on a drop cloth or large piece of disposable paper to avoid spilling and scattering the toner. Hold down the blue lock lever on the left side of the drum assembly and lift the toner out of the drum unit. Examine the drum carefully for small pieces of paper that may be jammed inside.

6. Reinsert the toner cartridge in the drum unit until it clicks into place. If you put it in properly, the lock lever will lift automatically.

7. Place the drum unit and toner cartridge back into the machine. Use equal pressure on both sides of the drum unit when pushing it back into place. Make sure it clicks into place.

8. Close the front cover. Make sure it clicks into place.

9. Remove any remaining paper in the paper tray and then reload it. The tray can hold up to 250 sheets of 20lb paper. Do not over fill the tray. There is a maximum paper mark located on the top of the right and left paper guide. It looks like a V cut out in the plastic. Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams or misfeeds.

NOTE: If you are using special paper and the machine has problems feeding it from the paper tray, try the paper again using the manual feed slot

10. Put the paper tray firmly back into the machine and unfold the output paper tray support flap before using the machine.

11. Turn the Brother machine around with the back of the machine facing you.

12. Open the back cover.

13. The black plastic inner chute should spring open automatically when the back cover is opened. Note: The inner chute has a diagram on it of a piece of paper being removed from the unit.

14. If there is paper inside the machine carefully remove it.

15. Close the back cover. NOTE: The inner chute will close automaticallywhen the back door is closed.

16. To test, print the Help List:

a. Press the REPORTS key located on the right side of the control panel.

b. Press the up or down arrow key until Help list appears on the display(#2).

c. Press Menu/Set. The report should begin printing.

Thanks an good luck

I have a paperjam on my colour laser printer CLX 3170 and I dont know how to get to the paperjam inside the machine

Step 1
Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.
Step 2
Turn off the printer.
Step 3
Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
Step 4
Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
Step 5
If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.
Step 6
If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
Step 7
If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though.
Step 8
Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
Step 9
If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Inspect the paper path once again.

Cannot clear paper jam on L7580.

give this a try
try this, its probably a small part of jammed paper or then theres a problem with the pickup, try cleaning it.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
