Turn on the machine, with no cartridge installed. Roll the Speed, Size and Pressure dials all the way down to the lowest possible setting on each.

I have one of these machines stripped down on the bench now with this problem. I have located the fault to a power relay which is sealed but must have burnt contacts as it is not passing the power to the machine to power up. I am still looking for a source of 18 volt coil relays with 10 amp contacts to fix this one. If not I may have to modify the circuit to overcome this problem.
Did you devise a work-around? I am experiencing the same problem. Will focus on the relay.
Well, did this ever resolve? I bought one from goodwill as a gift to my aunt. We are both poor so used only, ha ha. I tore mine apart - reseated all cables, etc. No joy. Surely this is a common issue and has a fix. I’ve seen a number of people asking for help with this question, albeit they don’t always describe the problem...exactly the same.

I would contact cricut because you may have a defective machine. I had an expression and cut one thing then it froze. We did the reset and that did not resolve the issue. Cricut had me send my machine back and they shipped a new one. Mind you they will put a charge on your credit card only to protect themselves. You just ship yours to them the way they tell you in the one you receive. Let me know if you do not have their contact number.
