Yes, there are 'chips' around which will reset the counters for the imaging units. But they are not 100% successful. The problem with replacing the chips, is that it fools the machine into thinking a new unit has been fitted. This causes the machine to behave differently when it comes to copy quality. I won't bore you with the exact tecnicalities of Imabe Stablisation, but I have seen machines have chips fitted and withing 2 days all the developer has been stripped out of the units.
As long as your machine hasn't been set to stop when IU life is achieved, it should be ok to leave the message on screen. A bit annoying, but cheaper than replacing the units.
