My flat screen hd sharp aquos color turns green when we are watching it. it is only 3 three years old. what can this be? thanks

get the on screen menu up and scroll around till you find contrast , brightness section and adjust from there

The set should be transported upright but that rarely causes these issues-----suspect either main signal board or also possible is the power supply (for voltages changing when set is on).

Also if set was opened look for all plugs to be seated--ones with cloth tape where they connect look at first.

failing that based on age of set consider having a technician look at it or if over 3 years consider a new set with extended warranty--70% of this type of set in our shop (100 plus sets at any time in for repair) are less than 3 years old.

that is the TV reading the HD signal and basically telling itself to allow the HD signal. When that happens there is a flicker of green, or sometimes the screen goes black. It is annoying, but its not just your TV, its pretty much on all tvs. This won't be a problem once everything is HD.

Contact Sharp to locate the nearest authorized Sharp servicer. Sharp Aquos servicers have to give Aquos TV top priority. Sharp provides very good and fast serice on these sets.

With no video and the the colored stripes, it sounds like the LVDS cable needs to be reconnected to the LCD control board or the control board itself is bad. If the unit is only 3-4 months old, it should be covered by warranty

Do the lines only appear on the Cable box input? It maybe be a problem with your cable. Try to isolate the problem.

Do you see the lines on all sources such as your DVD player as well? If you press the MENU button on the Sharp remote, do the lines go through the menu as well? If yes, it is most likely a TV problem.

A bunch of lines sounds like it is most likely a problem with the connection with the LVDS cable, if not that, then a defective main board.

There isn't really much you can do about it now.
Since the TV is less than a year old, I suggest calling Sharp to locate a local authorized service center.

I think you are right about the backlight. You need to replace the backlight tube or, if you can, replace the TV. Good Luck.
