The cable remote will only program so many different sets, that number is under forty brands total so it may no work for you..

Did you try another time warner remote if yes then this is normal because if on/off works that means the volume function is not coded for the time warner remote because the set is to new.

Just bought an LG 32" HDTV and have the new Samsung STB, with a Scientific Remote; the code in the remote manual for LG says to use 1005, but after trying it and many others, I used the "Find Code" set-up (991) and (990) in the remote manual and happened upon 1004 for the LG.

While this worked, the remote is a bit awkward, as you have to enter yet another code (998) in order to control the Power for both the TV and Box with the remote; the good news is that the instructions to do this are pretty straightforward and well presented.

Now, I can turn both TV and Box on/off with power button on remote, can change channels with remote and also vary volume with remote!
