Graph the function then use the trace function to locate the point(s) where two curves intersect. In your case one of the curves is the X-AXIS.

See the screen capture to learn how to use the trace functionality.

How to solve and graph the equation 4x+y+0

The easiest way to solve and graph and equation is to put the equation into the slope intercept form y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b in the y-intercept.

To do this, we subtract 4x from both sides and get y = -4x + 0.

From this we know m = -4 (slope) and the y-intercept is 0.

I always start with the y-intercept and put a point there. Thus, we have a point at (0,0). Using this as a starting point, we now use the slope of -4 to get future points. Since it is negative, we go one unit to the left and up four units. So we have the point (-1,4). Using a ruler, we connect these points and continue on both sides to produce the line.

There is also a great free online program/app called Desmos that you can use to check your work. Type in the equation of the line and it will graph it for you.

Good luck,

Paul

Determine the x and y intercept of the graph for each equation. 5x-y=-5 And -3x+2y=7

5x-y=-5 answer x=-1, y= 5 http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=Determine+the+x+and+y+intercept+of+the+graph+for+equation%3A+5x-y%3D-5

-3x+2y=7 answer x = -7/3, y = 7/2 http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=Determine+the+x+and+y+intercept+of+the+graph+for+equation%3A+-3x%2B2y%3D7

How to solve graphing equations

How can you graph equations (functions) if you do not have a graphing calculator?

-6x-3y=27

The x intercept is where your line will cross the x axis. Therefore, the value for y at this point is 0. Substitute 0 for y in this equation and solve for x.

6x + 3(0) = 27
x = 27/6
x = 4 1/2

x intercept = (4 1/2, 0)

Follow the same reasoning for the y intercept.

6(0) + 3y = 27
y = 27/3
y = 9

y intercept = (0,9)

Now plot these two points and draw your line through them.

Find the x- and y-intercepts and graph the equation plotting the intercepts. Please show all of your work. Submit your graph to the Dropbox.5x-4y=-10

Use the definitions of the intercepts.
x-intercepts (or zeros or roots) are the values of the independent variables that make the function equal to zero. To obtain an intercept set y=0 in equation : 5x=-10, mean x=-10/5=-2
y-intercept: value of y when x=0.
Just set x=0 in equaltion and solve for y
-4y=-10, gives y=5/2

And Sorry, I cannot enter the answer in the drop box.

How do i solve y=x-3

y = x -3
This is a linear problem- so the usual way to solve the graph would be to solve where x = 0 and y= 0
if you use the format y = slope (m) * x + y intercept (b)- you would set y = 0
at that point it would be 0 = x -3 x = 3 Therefore where y = 0, x = 3. In a graph, that would point to the coordinate (3,0) for the x-intercept. To find the y-intercept, you'd set x = 0 at that point, you'd have the y-intercept being (0,-3)
so if y = 1, x would be 4; if y = 2, x = 5, and so on

(-4,6), m = 8

The equation of a straight line is given by y=mx + b where y if the y intercept on a graph and x is the x intercept on a graph and m is the slope of the line

Using the given information of ( -4, 6), m=8

-4 is the x intercept, 6 is the y intercept and the slope is 8.

Plugging these values into the y = mx + b gives 6 = (8) (-4) + b solving for b gives b = 32

Going back to the original equation of a straight line gives the equation of y = 8x + 32

Hope this helps Loringh PS Please leave a rating for me Thank you
