Cant connect tv to laptop via htmi cable

I cant connect tv to laptop via htmi cable. I have an LG 47" and cant get the tv to show as the monitor.
I've pressed the fn button. The setup works on other tvs (PC worlds' display tv as well) so it seems to be the TV. It did work once upon a time but just wont now. However a media player works on the TV so does that mean its not the htmi point?? The laptops drivers are also up to date and the laptop thinks everything is fine.
Its like i haven't pressed a button right on the tv! But there arent any buttons!

SOURCE: LG 32LG30 no signal when pc and tv r connected via rgb cord

For No signal try- Updating your Video drivers, and making sure it shows a connection on your laptop ( by going to propertys on desktop and then dysplay)
For format try- Updating and or turning down the screen resulotion becuase the size differs on screen even if you think it shouldnt.

SOURCE: connecting laptop to lcd

You may need to use the S-video cable for video. Make sure video mirroring is disabled on the powerbook. Also, make the external monitor the primary display by dragging the menu bar to it in Displays preferences (Mac OS X) or the Monitors control panel (Mac OS 8 and 9).

I purchased a component cable (rectangular plug I think called VGA plugs into female left side laptop toward the back and red, blue and green RCA type jacks for LG TV.

Look for a Function Key (fn) on your laptop for activating the VGA external monitor.

If your fn button is blue (for example) all of the keys on your laptop that are activated when you hold down the fn button will have an option in blue. Look for a blue icon on a key that roughly looks like a monitor or two monitors.

With everything hooked up, press and hold the fn key, then tap the corresponding key to turn on the external monitor.

Having said that... the cable you are describing has a VGA (blue 15 pin connector) that plugs onto the VGA jack of your laptop and splits that signal into a set of component RCA plugs. Its critical how you plug these into the correct place on your LG TV component connections. I know such adapter cables exist but I've never seen one work.

Cant connect my laptop to my LG32LC45 tv

Hi there
Below is a link which takes you to a page that shows how to cable the PC (laptop) and the TV together, with a brief explanation of resolutions etc.
http://www.lg.com/uk/support/product-help/CT00008333-CT00008334-2132861
If the above doesn't get you any further then the link below takes you to an LG support page from which you can download the full manual for your TV, which gives the supported connection methods and the supported resolutions.
http://www.lg.com/uk/support-product/lg-32LC45#
I would strongly suspect that if correctly cabled then either the laptop external resolution is set to a level that the TV can't cope with, or the external monitor function is turned off. If the external monitor function is turned off then pressing and holding the Fn button whilst pressing a function button once and releasing both should turn the external monitor on. On a Toshiba Tecra the top line functon button you need is F5, on an MSI U130 its F3, on a Dell Inspiron 1525 its F8, on a different Dell model its F1, so you need to check your laptop and its manual to find out which button is relevant to your machine.
Sorry to have been longwinded - Good luck

How do I connect my hp laptop to my lg LCD tv? I've tried plugging in the hdmi cable to both but my tv keeps sayin ' no signal' please help meeee :(

you need to select the screen you can use because most of laptops don't support to use both screens(laptop screen & monitor / plasma tvs that have VGA port) at once.. you can select your screen by check on F function buttons on your keyboard ...you can identify that button easily because it shows two screens on it just press that button you will choose the screen you can use.

Connect laptop to tv to play dvd

After connecting to your TV with VGA cables to whatever the output is, press the display mode button (fn+f? keys with monitor symbol on it). Alternatively, you can access the multiple display menu via Catalyst or nVidia control panel.

I try to connect my pc with my tv with an hdmi cable 2m but my tv can't read it,so when i turn my tv channel to the hdmi port(tv) which i have connect the cable the screen of the tv is blank.in other words...

Once you made all the proper connection, meaning the hdmi cable from your laptop to your tv, and tunning your laptop to the right hdmi port (like hdmi side, rear1 or 2 however many hdmi input your tv has). Then I believe on acer model, you need to press the FN button and the F5 button at the same time that switches your external video source, Leave the Fn button press and then slowly press the f5 button key until your screen is display on the monitor HDMI. Like said earlier, you need to make sure the tv is tuned to the correct HDMI port.

Acer 5515 on external monitor

Get an VGA cable and connect your external monitor to your laptop via a VGA port that is usually used for digital projectors. In this VGA port, you can initiate dual monitors.

Then look at your keyboard and look an icon in your function keys (F1 to F12) that looks like a pair of an LCD and a TV like this {LCD icon/ TV icon}. In most laptop keyboards, this is located in F4.

When found, and with the external monitor hooked to the laptop via VGA port using a VGA cable, press and hold down the FN key and press the function key where the icons described above is located. Example, FN + F4 to toggle a single and a dual monitor.

Give it a try.

Connecting Laptop to LCD

VGA cable doesn't carry any audio: use your audio output from PC into TV audio Input (standard RCA).
You need to configure your Display Properties to manage TV screen to get an effective connection.
Either you have a generic Video Grafic Driver add on (I'm using Intel Graphic accelerator) on your display properties either you are using a specific (NVIDIA) driver for your video card.
To check go to CP/ Display, settings Tab and in advanced you should be able to check your choice (if you don't want to go to user manual.
You can also (in CP/ Display, Settings tab configure TV as a monitor and select your option accordingly: use screen resolution on screen # 2 not over native resolution of your VIZIO screen (1080 x 960?) and be sure to use all the parameters as TV can accept.
As soon as TV is configured as per resolution and refresh etc..
check the presentation function on your PC: it's normally a FN key showing a screen icon on key top (on my Acer travelmate is FN + F5) on aspire may be it's FN + F4.
This function key will circle between: PC mail screen -> External screen (as you configured on Display settings) -> both screen.
