The Fujitsu Lifebook S5582 does not have an integrated Wireless network card. This laptop was manufactured in 2001-2002. The integrated Wifi card was not generaly common in laptop computers until 2004.

So, you will need to buy a wireless adapter if you want to have wifi connectivity. Since this laptop is quite old, I would recommend a PCMCIA (a.k.a. PC card) adapter instead of a USB because it will be much lighter on the processor load.

You also have to be aware that using a wireless card will use more battery power and therefore shorten the expected autonomy of the laptop when running on battery.

You are right, the Wireless connection icon will appear as soon as your wireless adapter driver will be installed correctly. So, you do not have to do anything special other than installing the card itself.

I have rebooted and lost my wireless adapter how do i restore it?

Unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot. The software should ID the hardware and apply the generic driver. Try here for the Wireless adapter driver: http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/download/DeskUpdateLink.asp?SoftwareGUID=CB18BE72-A5E5-42D4-98DB-4700CA3C4C3E&Prod=LIFEBOOK%20S7220&Produktdetail= Open the Device Manager, select Network Adapters, is the Wireless adapter listed, enabled?

Hi I have an old Fujitsu P7010 I'm trying to connect to wireless network at home . But it doesnt seem to find a wireless network in range.

If you are trying to connect to a free WiFi network site try the Airport. Macdonalds, Starbucks etc.
The wireless networks in your area are most likely private wireless networks and if you find one within wireless range you most likely cannot connect into this network without the owner's permission because the connection will be encryption protection (they would need to give you this encryption key).

How to get my wireless working?

There could be a switch or alt-button to push in order to turn on the WiFi. After that, search under Wifi connections and choose a network that is broadcasting in your area.

Fujitsu siemens not seeing wireless networks

Go Fujitsu Website and support, download drivers and download the correct WIRELESS NETWORK DRIVER and/or ADAPTER drives. Select RUN and reinstall them (all).

If that does not work then it may be the network adapter which may be behind a back flap. Remove and Replace with same part. Actually its easier just to buy a USB or PCMCIA Network Adapter from Radio Shack to plug in to your Notebook, comes with software and driver installation disk about $40. This is generally the best solution as it works independantly as a "plug in", easier to install if notebook's built in Network Adapter is defective.

FUJITSU LIFEBOOK S6010 - INTERSIL PRISM PCI WIFI CARD - WPA LAN

Seems like you have a pretty old laptop. I'm guessing its got a wireless B card installed internally. And wireless B supports WEP most of the time. And if you're lucky the manufacturer of that wireless card may have an update to patch your card so that it will see WAP. Otherwise you can replace that internal card or get a usb / PCMCIA wireless card that supports at least wireless G standard.

Not picking up wireless networks

What you need to verify is that the wireless adapter is not disabled or turned off. There is a switch on the front edge of the unit that will turn the adapter off and on.
if you go to http://solutions.us.fujitsu.com/www/content/pdf/SupportGuides/S7210_GSG_B5FJ-5241-01EN-00.pdf you can see the picture of where it is, but from the center on teh front edge, where the latch is, moving to the left, is the mic socket, the headphone socket and them the on/off switch you are looking for. slide it the other way and that should get you back on.
If that doesn't turn is back on, verify in the network connections that the adapter is enabled as well.

I have a secondhand 5 series lifebook how do i turn on and setup the wireless facility for internet access

Have you got your own wireless router and you are trying to connect to it?
To connect to the Internet, you need to have your own wireless router cable or DSL modem that is connected to an Internet Service Provider of your choice.
Most Internet Service Providers can supply the wireless router and a broadband plan that suits your needs. Beware some providers will slug you with excess charges once you exceed your download limit.
Get back to me with details of the Wireless Router and the wireless card in your Fitjitsu laptop and I can advise you how to configure your system to secure your wireless network.

No wifi

You need to get a wireless adaptor your laptop did not come with wireless built in. You can get a USB adaptor or a PCMCIA adaptor. Either will work but the pcmcia adaptor will be a little faster

Have a look here

Hope that helps
