I have connected my Sony DVD recorder to a Sony TV and Sky box. However, when I try to do the Easy Setup, it appears to set the channels on the DVD recorder using Smartlink. Once the setup is complete, I am unable to see any of the TV channels on the DVD recorder which means I can't use it to record any TV programmes. I don't want to get a Sky+ box as I am only renting the house for 6 months. I'm not sure if I have everything connected OK or not or if there is something else I have to do in order to be able to use the DVD recorder.

Please connect ariel to vcr then dvd then tv
.scart(tv)on sky box to tv.scart(vcr)on digibox to vcr.vcr ariel out to
dvd in,& dvd ariel out to tv. to record vcr video to dvd must set
to av on dvd player. you should be all right with this.

You have done wrong connections. You must follow carefully instructions are given at recorder's and sky box's user guide and do the interconnections correct.
If you have lost user guides of your set give their data to search if they can be found on web.
Actually you don't have to get other devices, Just cables, take the sky box output and connect to AV input of DVR
You get parallel connection from the Sky box to TV or you can use the alternate output. Can you please let me know the model of your DVR and Sky box (usually motorola models).

The Sony DVD recorder model is RDR-HX525. There is nothing on the Sky box to indicate the make or model. It just says Sky Digibox.
