Did you find a diagram? i opened mine up up and need to reassemble :-/ but having no joy finding one to rebuild the gear assembly

Go to Makitatool.com and type in your model number and you should be able to download a schematic, if you have a problem let me know and I will go another route for you.

    im after a gear assembly diagram for the bhp451 but cant find it anywhere did you have any joy?

    The only schematic that is published does not show a broken-down view of the gearbox. Makita considers the gearbox as a single part number... We need a photo or drawing of the gearbox exploded. Thanks.

You can try the website makitauk.com select parts then choose your tool. Unfortunately it does not break the gearbox down to any detail as it can only be obtained as a complete unit.

Ive stripped down my makita 18v bhp451 combi drill and dont know where the 2 steel cylinders go from the gearbox end of the drill (i belive)

Fitting new gearbox to 8444d
that is a pain. when you take them out they have to go back in that specific way that specific place. if you don't get back just right the case won't fit back together. if you take it slow and only remove what you need to remove you may not have any trouble. you will have to remove all the case screws to get to the gearbox. everything is a tight fit.

hi , the bad news is you have almost certainley damged the motor and may have damaged the switch ( it is also the speed controller ) , the good news is because its a Makita then you will have little trouble in getting spares for it , if you repost the actual model and what country your in and ask for a spares diagram/parts list i will help further

How to fix or replace a electric brake problem on a makita bhp451
you would need to replace the switch, but before doing that check the brush length for excessive wear. you can go to Makitatools.com for a breakdown for this model.

Makita BHP451 Question
Buy a hitachi li-ion 18 volt ds18dl.
All parts are repairable & replacebable should they breakdown. Ie gearbox.
Gearbox parts are not available on makita , only whole gearboix which can be expensive.
