Kenmore 90 tub spins excessively clockwise during wash cycle.

Kenmore 90 tub spins excessively clockwise during agitating cycle causing clothes to wrap around the alternating rotating agitator. When the spin / drain cycle starts, wrapped clothes cause imbalance, then total off balance spinning results in machine hopping. When the tub spin is manually held still during agitation cycle, normal spin / rinse cycle occurs with no wrapping of clothes around agitator / no machine hopping. Nonfunctioning lid switch was replaced with NO end result. Machine still does not stop when lid is lifted when spinning. Spin bearing? Basket drive? Clutch brakes?

Improperly installed thrust bearing kit. Too many washers cause the basket to spin during agitation.

Drum knock when spin cycle

Hello.
Noises are common when using a two-in-one washer and dryer, as clicking or whirring is part of the cleaning process during the transition to the next cleaning process. The GE Spacesaver washer and dryer combo uses a top-loading washer stacked beneath the front-loading dryer, and uses an agitator that makes noises throughout the spin cycle. Although whirring or clicking is normal, other noises or malfunction indicates a problem with the washer that requires minor troubleshooting. Professional repair is necessary if the washer continues to experience problems during the spin cycle, as there may be a problem with the washer's agitator.
1 Open the washer's door and check the balance of the load's clothes. Clothes that are unevenly distributed around the agitator cause excessive shaking and result in an imbalance during the spin cycle. Reduce the load's size by removing clothing if the washer's drum is overloaded.
2 Push "Start/Pause" to pause the spin cycle and turn the washer's cycle knob to the "Off" position. Turn the knob to "Spin Only" and press "Start/Pause" to reset the cycle.
3 Turn the wrench counterclockwise or clockwise around the unit's legs to adjust the appliance's balance. The legs are adjustable with the help of a wrench to ensure the unit does not shake while in use. An unleveled unit shakes as it spins, and causes excessive squealing or rattling as it attempts to dry the clothes.
4 Touch "Start/Pause" on the front of the washer's control panel and unplug the washer/dryer unit's power cord from the electric oultlet. Wait two minutes and plug the power cord back into the electric outlet. Push "Start/Pause" to resume the spin cycle.
Thanks.

Kenmore warsher, Model num 110.14202300, not drain or spin

The clothes too wet after spin cycle tells me that the water ump is functioning. If it wasn't, there would still be lots of water in the machine when the cycle ended. These Kenmores have the water pump mounted on one side of the electric drive motor and the transmission, drive shaft, and agitator on the other side. The transmission is fastened to the motor by a "coupler", a three piece assy that often breaks. This common failure allows the machine to complete a cycle, however, because of the broken coupler, there is no drive to the tub and no spin or agitate. The clothes seem wet because the spin motion is supposed to provide the force to extract the excess moisture. Leave the lid open and verify that there is no agitate or spin.(During spin cycle use a pen to press down on the safety interlock, a small opening on the the of the machine, toollow the unit to spin with the lid open). If you verify this, flip the machine over and locate the coulper on one side of the motor. One side will be cracked along the shaft. Sears parts stores carry the coupler in stock. ($18.50) Hope this helps.

Agitator doesn't spin during wash cycle

If The washer won't agitate
Check to make sure no clothing got wrapped around the agitator. Check the lid switch, timer, and drive belt, other potential causes, such as a bad transmission or bad agitate/spin solenoid, but they are much more involved.
if the washer won't spin, the lid switch, timer, drive belt, transmission, or agitate/spin solenoid could be the cause here as well. Sometimes if the load is unbalanced or too heavy, the washer won't spin. Take some of the clothes out and try the spin cycle again with a lighter load.

Here are the steps to replace the agitator.
1: Take the fabric softener dispenser off and pry off the agitator lid.
2: Use a socket wrench with an extension bar to remove the stud and seal.
3: Remove the agitator top and bottom.
4: Check the agitator clutch assembly (located in the agitator top) for excessive wear.
5: To replace, just reverse the directions.

Kenmore 90 series washer

most likely the agitator dogs are bad. if the agitator engages clockwise and free spins counter clockwise they are good, if it slips they are bad. remove the bolt in the center of the agitator, take off cap or dispenser and remove the inner cap first. pull out the agitator, put on the floor, stand on the base of the agitator and pull up on the upper part to separate, take out the dog holder and replace dogs. Most appliance repair shops should have part on hand for about 5-6 dollars. part number 80040-fsp.
