My receiver will not change to digital play ? the text on the receiver is ''analog only''

Hi

A little more information about the make and model of your amplifier would make it much easier to tell you exactly what button where to press on your amplifier.

But I am sure I can point you in the right direction.

Analog only means that although you have connected your DVD player or Settop box to your amplifier on the digital coaxial input you have not yet setup all that needs to be setup.

Start by checking that you have enabled the digital coaxial output on you DVD player. You can set the following if it is available:
1: Select your Digital output to ON
2: Dolby Digital setting must be Dolby digital
3: MPEG switched to MPEG, not PCM
4: Select 96Khz/24bit or higher data transfer on coaxial cable.
Note - all these setting might not be available depending on the manufacturer.

Now you will already know the input switching on the amplifier - so select DVD.

Now to activate the coaxial port you must look for a button named "input mode" either on the amplifier itself or on the remote.

Press this until the amplifier says Digital.

Now get ready for great sound.

Can i loop my EQ through the PRE-OUT and MULTI-IN of my RX-V661?

No. When you select multi-in you bypass everything in the receiver so you would have no program source exiting the receiver to the EQ.

Use it in the standard MD/CD-R slot.

Multi room will not play any digital input, just analog. I.e. Video 1 when analog connection plays in multi room, but optical 1, when set as input for vid 1 will not play in multi; works fine in main...

I have a Marantz 7.1 AV receiver (sr5500) and I run a 5.1 set up for home theatre and use the 2 extra channels to run a pair of outdoor stereo speakers... When I first set it up I also found I could not get a digital signal output, only analog, after reading the manual(!) I discovered that it can only output an analog signal...so I have used the phono outputs on my blu-ray player into the CD input of the AV amp and play CDs outside through this and it also outputs the optical digital signal into the AV amp through the DVD input...my iPod also plays through a dock and it's analog output to the speakers outside through another (CD-R) anolog input on the amp... Hope this helps

Analog only

You need to connect your source to your receiver with a Digital coax cable or a Optical cable to get true surround sound. Analog will only give you simulated surrond sound.

No sound all of the sudden when on dtv

make sure input mode selector on the front is set to either analog or or digital. For example if the sound input from the dtv/cable is analog and you have it set to digital, you will get no sound. Change it to analog. This happens to me when using my crappy dvd/vhs player and I have a vhs playing (analog). Hope this helps...
