When you turn on the TV it takes about 20 to fully turn on. sometimes we get pink lines on the screen.

Try changing the input device to something you are sure works.Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

Could be in the set but if using a cable or sat box unplug them and wait a while and plug back---I have seen a reboot of a box cure this issue.

That called ghosting or magnetic interference on CRT .
To eliminate ghosting, the easiest step is to keep the TV from equipment that has a large magnet. For example: speakers, electric motors and all that is magnetized.
Or you can also turn off the TV for 10-20 minutes to cool the PTC on the TV.
If it remains, try to move the location of the TV to other place.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Your TV most likely has a problem in the convergence circuits. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

Possibly a form of flare caused by including the light source in the image.

Here is what I was able to find out about your problem from sony: This issue is usually caused by some type of nearby magnetic interference, such as unshielded stereo speakers placed too close to the TV. These spots can be small or large and will normally be red, green or blue, but sometimes appear purple or pink. They normally occur on the sides or corners of the screen, but can also appear in the middle. To resolve this issue, move any stereo speakers or other electronic devices away from the TV; a minimum of 2-3 feet is recommended. If the situation is not remedied immediately, unplug the power cord of the TV from the electrical outlet for 20-30 minutes; repeat this process one more time if the issue is not resolved the first time. If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required. you can get it your tv fix the problem is in the IF amp and video circuit.a convergence will also be neeeded.the tv is old but can give you some more life call a tech they will be your tv doc.
