Why can I only get a black and white picture? the unite came with white, yellow and red cables and the back of my Hi-Def Sony T.V has white, red, blue and green. Audio is working great, I had to plug the yellow cable into the green plug as it is the only one that gives me picture.

From your description the "unite" -, only the yellow plug has CVBS video signal.
The CVBS connectors are not standard on HD televisions....

buy one of these for your television and connect up matching colours:

How many aux inputs does your tv have?(vid1,vid2 etc.)there must be a set of component inputs you can use to hook up your player. Another thing you can do is to hook up your player using the S-Video connector if one is provided on both devices(you will need the cable for s-vid).

You have to have the cable with three colors, yellow is video, white is one side stereo and red is other side. Plug into av on back of tv then select the av

Can i hook up my xbox 360 to my aquos tv with just the red, yellow, and white cable? Right now I am not getting a color pic

Yes you can but it won't be Hi def. It sounds like you're trying to connect the cables to the Hi def input (Red, blue, green, white and red for the audio) That's not the right place to connect to.

I bought a Nintendo Wii off of a guy and I didn't realize when I did that it came with Hi-Def RCAs. My TV only has a standard RCA hookup. I was told that I could still use the Hi-Def RCAs but what colors...

Those are not High Def RCAs.

The cables you received are called "component" when the picture is broken down to its component colors, red, green, and blue.

When compared to "composite" cables (RCA), the yellow is all the components in one, which is the video cable. The other red and white are audio.

Your component should be RGB, Red & White (audios)

What you need to do is buy a composite cable for the Wii, which shouldn't cost that much--usually under $10 bucks. Save the component cables for when you get a new TV since those are the more expensive of the two!

Hi,I can play a DVD disc on the system and get sound from the surround sound speakers but I can't get a picture on the tv,Sony Trinitron. The connetions are from the DAV S500:(DVD only)red and white cable...

Hi,
First try with yellow video output of DAV-S500 in yellow video TV input to get its picture. (yellow output means composite video out)
Green-Blue-Red video output is component output that will be turn on when you switch the unit into Progressive picture mode, that option would be available in Menu of DAV-S500
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

No colour when watching dvds ok for everything elese

You will have to make sure you are connecting them with the red and white cables on audio and the yellow on video at both ends, as both your dvd and tv have low def and hi def cabling options.

That means Red and White to Audio at each end and Yellow to video at both ends. If you connect the yellow cable to one of the other three connectors at iether end you will only get black and white as they are meant for a different type of connection.

To get the maximum quality out of your sets you may want to purchase a set of Hi-Definition Component cables which will give you a set of five cables, still red and white for audio but now red, green, blue for video.

Hope this heps a bit more,

Chris

Picture won't fill the entire screen

Check the settings on the TV, and find an HDMI cable and connect via that, as picture quality will be far better.

Full screen view

in order to get the full HD experience you should be using HDMI cables. if you're using the white/red/yellow cables then your HD channels will not broadcast in full HD and you'll be stuck with the annoying black things around your screen

Picture in Black & White

if you are using composite cables (yellow, red & white), make sure your yellow (video cable) is into the yellow output. if you plugged the wire into the green on the back of the dvd it will give you a black & white picute. But if it is in the yellow then you most likely have a problem with the dvd player that will need to be taken to a service center.
