Recording from vhs to dvd

I have no owners manual. How do I record a VHS tape onto a DVD disc? When I put the tape in on the VCR slot and a blank DVD disc in the disc tray, I push the 'copy' button. I get 'error' on the player screen and it ejects both the disc tray and vhs tape.

    Yes, I'm in the same position with no owner's manual and don't know how to record VHS to DVD on this unit. Can anyone help out there? The owner's manual has seemed completely impossible to find as well!

Direct copy VCR to DVD:
- Insert VHS tape you want to copy
- Insert a recordable DVD disc
- Press DVD copy button on front panel or remote control (to DVD).
- To stop recording press the stop button.

IMPORTANT: If attempting to copy copyrighted material the Samsung DVD-VR320 will detect the encoding and will not allow the copy to be made.

Although the method mentioned above looks quite simple, fact is, it's not easy to buy a DVD recorder these days. They are old and outdated. Plus, buying such a bug guy for a one time job is not reasonable by all means. But keep reading this VHS to DVD tutorial, because with the next method, you don't need to buy a DVD recorder to convert VHS to DVD, all you need to buy is a small analog converter device, and you can do this with the help of your PC and some software.

What you need

An analog converter device ->
It looks like a little box with a bunch of colorful cables and ports. Many other VHS to DVD tutorial might mention this one because it's really important in converting VHS to DVD, and It can be acquired online.

A PC with a DVD drive ->
Windows and Mac can both do the job theoretically, depends on what kind of software you use. Today we use a Windows device.

A DVD burning software ->
This is the tricky part. The whole converting speed and output quality directly depend on how you choose a DVD burning software. So it's important to choose a nice and decent DVD burning software. The one we use is Leawo DVD Creator.

Converting VHS to DVD with a DVD recorder is quite easy. You need a DVD recorder, a VHS player and your VHS cassette, an RCA or S-Video cable. For more and you can click into the tutorial.

How to convert VCR to DVD

no easy way to do this unfortunately. You either need to connect your VCR to a DVD recorder and record it directly onto DVD or use a device such as this http://www.dx.com/p/easycap-usb-video-capture-adapter-5707 to connect your VCR to your computer and record it onto your computer that way.

I have a Panasonic DMR-ES30V. I've only ever recorded from what I'm watching on the TV to a DVD. I now have a VHS tape that I'd like to record to DVD. I tried starting the dvd to record...

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

How do I record a vhs onto a dvd on the combo?

I have researched the manual for this particular device and you will not be able to convert/record VHS tapes to DVD discs. You can however record content from a DVD to VHS tape as this model only has a readable disc player not a DVD burner. Sorry, but you may want to research DVD recorders that also have VHS playback.

How do you record dvd to vhs and from vhs to dvd

For VHS to DVD, put the tape to dub in the VHS slot and a blank DVD in the DVD tray. Make sure the DVD is compatible with the DVD recorder (see the recommended disc list) and is unfinalized if you are using a R/W disc. Close the tray. Set the unit to VCR mode with the DVD/VCR button. Advance the tape to the place that you want the recording to start. Then press the Dubbing button (either on the remote or the unit itself). Select the recording mode (SP, LP etc), highlight Dubbing then press Enter or Dubbing. Press Stop to interrupt the recording.

For DVD to VHS, put a blank tape in the VCR (make sure the protection tab has not been broken off) and the DVD to duplicate in the DVD tray and close the tray. Put the unit in DVD mode by pressing the DVD/VCR button. Find the point at which you want to start recording the DVD. Again press Dubbing and set up the recording mode and highlight Dubbing and press Enter or Dubbing.

Note that copyprotected content can not be recorded.

The manual for this recorder is on the right side of the page here: http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/video/LG-dvd-recorder-RC897T.jsp . See page 48 for the screen captures of setting the recording mode part of the dubbing procedure.

I hope this helps.

Have a toshiba tp 61H95 proj TV- want to connect panasonic dvd recorder and toshiba vhs recorder so I can copy family videos to dvd- can't get hook ups set up for both to work.

Select AV-1 or some thing in TV and plug DVD recorder Video-Audio output in AV-1 input of TV, playback any DVD and confirm its picture and sound in TV. Press Stop button of DVD recorder to stop playback.
Now plug Video-Audio output of VCR in DVD recorder input and select AV Input in DVD recorder, insert VHS tape in VCR and playback it and confirm you get VHS picture and sound in TV via DVD recorder.
Hookup between TV, DVD recorder and VCR is completed.
Playback VHS tape in VCR, Insert blank DVD disc in DVD recorder and press Record while you see VHS tape picture in TV.
Hope this info will help you.

You cannot burn a DVD on the XBV243. It is NOT a DVD recorder. You CAN record onto a VHS tape from a DVD (copy-protected commercial DVDs cannot be recorded)
