1. Type in your base number
2. Press the EE button
3. Key in your exponent number.
4. Press the button on the bottom right hand side of the calculator that has both the positive and negative sign on it.
5. Press equals button.
Thanks a million, that surely helps. I needed that very much and had looked both low and high for it but was unable to find any explanation of this even on the Texas Instruments website but you answered it for me.

Actually, this is not correct. The proper way is as follows:
1. Enter the base number.
2. Press the key that has "Y" to the "x" (right below the OFF button).
3. Enter the exponential.
4. Press the button +?- on the left of the Equals(=) button and this will make the exponential a negative one.
5. Press =
