Danby counter top dishwasher leaks

This might help with disassembly. Mine was leaking also, but my main problem was no spray. Use my disassembly instructions to remove the pump/motor. If you notice that the leakage is from the pump and not a loose connection, remove the pump cover and apply a thin bead of Blue RTV sealant to the rubber ring. This stopped the leak in my pump.

My Danby dishwasher (DW) stopped working. The spray arm stopped spinning completely and very little water was coming out of the arm. When I removed the spray arm (CAUTION: reverse threaded, turn CW to loosen and CCW to tighten) and ran the DW, very little water was spraying out of the pump.

I thought maybe the pump was clogged. So, I followed the recommendations I had seen online about running a few cycles with Vinegar to clear the crud from the pump, but this did not help.

It seemed like the motor was operating, and there were no strange smells to indicate the motor was burned…just no water spraying. So I thought it must be the pump. Before disassembly, I tried to locate a replacement pump. I searched far and wide, both locally and online, and could not locate a replacement pump. So with nothing to lose, I decided to disassemble the DW, take a look and see what I could find. I am glad that I did.

The bottom line is that I disassembled the dishwasher and found that the plastic pump impeller had worked its way off the pump shaft and was not turning. I forced some Teflon plumbers tape over the shaft and forced the impeller back onto the shaft. The impeller has a flat spot to line up with the shaft and I pushed the impeller down on the shaft as far as it would go. I then used a small socket to fit over the shaft and GENTLY tapped the impeller for a final seating. I reassembled the dishwasher and it worked like a charm.

Since I could not find any service manual or instructions online for this DW, I thought I would share my disassembly/reassembly procedure.

I had the same problem with mine. what you need to do is take off the piece of metal that is the sides and top of the machine, not the bottom. on mine there are 16 screws and once they're out the whole thing lifts right off. When I took mine apart I found a disconnection where the water flows into the tub i kinda had to macgyver it to make it stay together but it was a real easy fix and works great now.

I had the same problem. The whole load of water pouring out the bottom during the drain cycle.. I refitted the hoses, adding Teflon tape but it still leaked. It was a simple solution, took off the top/side piece (a few of the screws are inside the door.) there are three hoses inside, the fill hose, the drain hose and another smaller see-through fill hose that, at the drain cycle rinses the dishes with clean water. That small hose was held on with only one tiny zip-tie at each end, it had simply popped off. I reattached it and tightened down the zip ties, made a note to buy two better fasteners for it and I checked all the other interior hose tightness, had to tighten down the other fill hose, although that wasnt the problem, turned it on and it worked perfectly. It was so easy, it wasn't even a husband job, I'm a 21 year old girl and figured it out just fine. Good luck!!!

Mine was leaking from the bottom and it turned out to be a drain bypass hose was dissconnected. however once i put it back together it wouldn't even turn on so i must have gotten the electrical wet or disconnected.

Well, thanks alot to the person who explained how to open the machine from the top (don`t touch the screws underneath, that's asking for trouble...). Even without megaupload video it was a cinch. Now, my problem was self evident. BTW you can run the machine without the outer cover on it. I did. And, lo and behold water came spouting out during the drainage cycle. There`s this little hose that loops up from the drainage and back into the main dish area. The drainage hose was somewhat crimped and this forced the pressure to pop this little tube clean off its socket. All the water to the floor... Stuck my finger on it and turned the machine off. Reconnected the tube. Now : MAKE SURE THE DRAINAGE CONDUIT IS NOT CRIMPED OR BEND (IT TENDS TO HAPPEN ON THIS MACHINE). And now the machine runs fine. For now...
