This could be a lot of things. There is a belt drive on the drum, The belt might be worn out, there could be a bearing that is starting to fail or it could be the motor or motor control board. Kenmore Washer Won Spin

Make sure all the water is gone. If not will not go into spin. Check the pump or cleanout for obstruction

this sounds like a timer problem, but need the make and model number to be sure, this model number will be on a on the rear panel of washer, or with the original owners manual.

through the lower door panel in front of machine. Why???? is machine walking , bouncing or other wise?? This machine spins at HIGH Rpm's so most usual problem is one leg maybe unlevel or possible wood floor maybe "giving " as machine spins and allowing the machine to walk...but then again if machine is "old" shocks could be worn out

Normal 0 First drop the lower front panel and remove the pump so you can check the hose leading to the drainpump for debris, coins, etc.

Lower front panel has two? screws holding it in place.

Be prepared for water on floor... use shop vac or have several towels ready for water. Recommend putting at least one towel undermachine before removing pump.

Clamps that hold hose to pump can be a challenger to removeand replace. Consider replacing stockclamps with screw clamps.

This is a great fix.... did it last night.. Found coins, screws, etc. in pump. Once I cleaned out the hose area leading to the pump the spin cycleworked fine.

you may have a dampening shock that is bad

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

take cabinet off, from the front, control panel first, then lay on back and take water pump off then motor off and you will see where the couple goes on. Pretty simple job how ever you may be missing some transmission clutch plates that will make it grab and stop with a bang like that.
