Lcd sharp tv flashing green light

Power went out in our city, then when we went to turn tv back on, it will not turn on, just keeps flashing the green power light

I'm having the same problem the "opg" light is flashing also.

  • OCRegulator Jul 01, 2008

Thank you CET. Your posting on 02-05-2008 was just the solution my wife and I needed. We followed the simple pattern of holding the buttons as described, and SHAZZZAM!!! Our TV worked again. Only afterward did we recall a power outage that was the probable culprit. Your simple tip probably saved us at least $200 in ridiculous service fees. Thanks again!

Was watching a dvd on my Sharp Aquos LC-32D43U and it went black for a second and then the green light started flashing (the power light, I think) but only the one light, not two like other people have experienced. I didn't see any red or blue lights - just green. I've had it for a year and a half so the warrant has expired (figures). I tried two suggestions: 1) holding the power button, unplugging the set for a count of 10 sec. and then plugging it back in for another count of 10 sec. and releasing the power button; and 2) holding both the volume + and channel - while unplugging and plugging back in and both to no avail. Any one got any other suggestions? First time I"ve had any problems with them tv - pity b/c it was working so well until now...

Try unplugging the unit and while unit is unplugged hold the volume up button and channel down buttons down and while depressing both buttons plug the unit in. Let go of the buttons and the unit should come on in the service mode. There will be a small k on the screen. With the sharp remote press the channel up button once. This should bring up a menu that will show a lamp error line. If the lamp error is = to 5 the unit is in lamp error shut down. User channel down to highlight that line and curser right arrow to highlight the lamp error #. Hit the enter button to clear the lamp errors. Now unplug the unit and let it sit for a minute and plug back in. I hope this corrects the problem. If the unit does not come on by doing this or if it does and you do not find lamp errors the power supply pcb may have been damaged by the surge.

We had a power outage, our Sharp Aquos would not turn back on. We had the dreaded green flashing power light. We held the volume up and channel down buttons in while we plugged the TV back in. The TV reset with volume. About 10 seconds later the picture was gone but we still had volume. We turned the unit off using the Sharp remote, turned it back on and Walaaaa.....We are back in business. Thanks for your feedback......it helped~!

I have sharp lcd42dh77e tv. When power is on it only shows green flashing light. Tried reseting by holding the power buttion for 10 sec. green flashing goes off, sounds comes for a while, channel number can be seen on the top and again back to the green flashing light! what is problem and solution? I had this problem twice before and solved by reseting but now its not working.
Tried to enter in the adjustment process mode by following the steps stated in the service manual (Vol- and Input button) but failed, tried the steps stated in your solution and again failed, is there any other way?

Is there a way to do this without a remote?? I picked one up on the side of the road that is doing this. We held down the channel and volume button and when we let go the screen came on for a few seconds then went black again. We don't have the remote to it. We plugged our phone up to the imput and it emits sound just fine.

Is there a way to do this without a remote?? We picked one up on the curb and it doesn't have a remote. We pushed the channel and volume button as you said but no K came up. The screen came on and showed the imput and all but then turned back to black. The light isn't flashing anymore though.

I'm having the same issue as melissa above; I pushed the channel and volume button as you said but no K came up. The screen came on and showed the imput and all, but then turned back to black. I clicked the channel up button on the remote, but still black. The light isn't flashing anymore though.

  • Anonymous Aug 23, 2013

I was able to get sound now using the volume up and channel down buttons, but I only get a brief glimpse of the channel, then screen goes to black. Is there other button combos for different problems?

  • Rachel Sep 27, 2013

Hi Becky, I just fixed this issue using the following method: push the volume down button and the power button at the same time. Wait for the light on the front of the tv to turn red. Then turn the tv on. It should come on, and quickly push menu and go to settings and hit reset. Once the reset is over, the tv should be good to go.

I had this same issue. all I did was unplug it. hold down volume up button and channel down button 9n the TV ( not the remote ) plug TV back in while pushing volume up and channel down. release buttons. TV will come on and green light will not blink anymore. press menu go to setup then go to reset. highlight reset then press enter. then highlight yes then press enter. TV then should reset and turn off by itself. once TV comes back on it should be good to go.

I had the same problem: green light flashing when i opened the TV. CET's trick didn't worked, well half of it.

I unplugged the TV. I hold down Volume Down and Channel Up on the TV (not the remote). Kept them down and plugged the TV. After 10 sec of waiting, it worked so I let go the buttons.

Dont know why, but it worked.

We have a Power Up problem with our Sharp Aquos 52SE94U and have had this problem since we bought in on 6/14/08. Sometimes after shutting if off, it won't power back on when we use the remote, so we read to unplug and plug it back in and it will work and it does. But for the money we shouldn't have to do that with a brand new TV. We have the Aquos Advantage program and they've sent a tech out 2 times now. They replaced the main p-c board, still had the problem so they came back and replaced the sensor board. It worked for 2 days then we went right back to the same problem, won't power on using the remote. We are back to unplug and plug in routine. HELP!!!

Well, this is a very comon fault.
First check the inverters forcing the TV set in service mode : unplug the unit from the input box, press VOLUME DOWN and INPUT keys and while pressing them switch the TV on using the power button (not the stand-by key). Maybe you see error 5. This indicates an inverter failure but if the screen is visible equally then the fault is hopefully elsewhere.Reset to zero (refer to the service manual) the error, disconnect the TV set from the AC plug and remove the rear cover. Then remove the screw holding the middle main board and clean the screw holes and the screws with some good contact cleaner.Refit the main board and power on the TV again. 99% works.

I had the flashing blue light on an LC-37D90U. I held the buttons as suggested and plugged the unit in. It reset and my problem went away. There is no mention of a flashing blue light in the manual. Thank you for posting the info. Terrible troubleshooting section in the Sharp manual. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Ill put in my two cents. ok i had the same problem with my mom's tv. did the reset thing and it kept happening after a few seconds. i decided to move input off hdmi 4 and then it stayed working. so i switch ports. i think it might cause the error on that port cause the port might be bad now. now i got it to stay on everything else but if i goto port 4 it errors it out." class="_mp3rocket_overlay_style" style="left: ; top: ; width: ; height: ">

When I turn the tv on it came on for a minute then started flashing on and off then went blank but the power light keep flashing off and on with a blank screen.

This problem is easy to repair. If when you turned the tv on and it had sound and picture for a second or two, and the power went off and the power green light keeps flashing on and off, it is a bad CCFL backlight lamp inside the LCD panel which has 10 of these lamps in it, but only one is bad. Replace the lamp and the tv will power on. What the tv is doing is, it has stored a lamp error code on the main board and turning the power off. The replacement lamp is part # RLMPLA029WJN1 and you can buy them at www.encompassparts.com for $19.49 ea. Go to their web sight and sign in as guess to order. I can give you step to step instruction on how to check how many lamps you will have to order if you need me, too. You will have to take the tv apart to check them.
