To transfer the operating system to the handheld, connect your handheld and computer with a USB Connection Cable and use TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software with TI-SmartView™ or TI?Nspire CX Student Software (Windows® / Mac®).
This is the link that will download the OS (it's free) to your computer:

I installed the new 2.1 OS to my TI-nspire and when it restarts it always freezes at the "loading os" screen with the bar completely filled all the way.

First of all you will need to erase your calculator by holding Home(house key)+enter+P and than the on button. Make sure the on button is the last button you press. Then, select option 2 to erase your operating system. Then, you need to obtain the operating system 2.0 for the calculator. Download and install that onto the calculator. It should install operating system 2.0. Once you do that, download and install operating system 2.1. This will allows you to upgrade your calculator to the latest version and get past the full bar loading screen. Let me know if you need anymore help.

I downloaded the new OS and it reloaded and it never turned back on. it just stays on the loading screen.

First of all erase your operating system. Then, find and install operating system 2.0 first. Once you do that, you can download and install the latest operating system onto your calculator. It should finish the loading screen.
